They don't really need a title fight on this card. Cro Cop, Rich and Wanderlei are big enough names to carry it.
nah, I don't think it's affecting him that much. BJ doesn't fight that frequently. He doesn't need to fight for the money like lots of guys do, so he takes breaks and spends time with family etc.
There is a decent chance Dan Hardy will get his wish and fight Marcus Davis, but the UFC has to decide whether to put the fight at UFC 99 in Germany, where Davis is scheduled to fight next, or to make it a late-summer affair when the UFC returns to the UK, to maximize Hardy's impact. Josh Koscheck wants to make everyone forget about his loss to Paulo Thiago by fighting again at UFC 98. He has been fighting all the time lately.
I don't think they'll get a big buyrate for a noon-hour PPV so we'll have to wait and see, but getting Velasquez and Swick on the card is a step in the right direction.
Looks like Velasquez will get to fight Heath "Gatekeeper" Herring at UFC 99. Poor heath. Everyone should go and watch his fight with Mark Kerr just to feel better about him. Heath was about ten seconds away from knocking out Minotauro. If he'd done that, he would've been in the title picture. Instead, he got to be the crash test dummy for a pissed-off Brock Lesnar.
Portland, Oregon expected to host UFC 101 in August. This could be the event where BJ Penn faces Kenny Florian.
Rumour has Nate Marquardt vs. Demian Maia happening in Germany at UFC 99. That card is getting pretty stacked.
Looks like they really want to get all of Europe's attention with this card.. they may do all right in PPV buys in Europe alone.
