Agreed 100% with this. The Miller/Diaz run-in was also completely spur of the moment. They had no clue Miller was going to pop up like he did and Miller had no clue several people would kick him as a result. Yesterdays antics was completely premeditated apparently ever since the Lobov incident.

Conor McGregor is awaiting an appearance before a judge in New York on Friday facing four separate charges stemming from an incident where the UFC lightweight champion stormed through the Barclays Center, assaulting a bus and injuring several people.

According to a spokesperson from the New York Police Department, McGregor has been charged with three separate counts of misdemeanor assault as well as one count of felony criminal mischief.

The three misdemeanor counts of assault carry a maximum of one year in prison each with a $1,000 fine. The felony criminal mischief stems from the amount of damage caused to the bus, which was in excess of $1,500. That charge comes along with a maximum jail sentence of seven years.

Because McGregor has no prior criminal record in the United States, it’s not likely that he’ll end up facing a felony charge as a first-time offender. Instead, McGregor will likely be asked to pay restitution for the damage done with his attorney pleading down his charges.

Do news stations get sued if they do not put the word allegedly in there before trial? Because we all saw it on tape and there appears to be no allegedly to it at this time. Dude did it.

    People that could sue McGregor:

UFC employee injured in the melee (likelihood: high)
Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg, both injured in the melee (likelihood: medium)
Anthony Pettis, Brandon Moreno, and Alex Caceres, who had their bouts canceled and missed out on win/bonus money (likelihood: low)
The bus company/owner including the bus driver (stress, lost wages, whatever) (likelihood: high)
    The Barclays Center (likelihood: low)
    The UFC (likelihood: very low)

You are probably right. Sounds like hedging. Media outlets regularly publish the names and pictures of people accused of or suspected in crimes so it is a grey area I think. They really only have any discretion with minors.

McGregor was reportedly treated like royalty by the (significantly American-Irish) NYPD. Shocker.

You're not going to convince me that this wasn't expected/somewhat staged by UFC and WME's part. Everybody and their mother knew that Conor would show up at some point this week and with Khabib's team cornering Artem and slapping him; the ground was laid.

Chiesa and Borg injuries look completely overstated based off of that embedded video; granted they were pulled from their fights. There is too much crystal clear video for this not to be used as promotional material later this fall or early next year.

Now as for the behavior; its obviously despicable and I do not condone it. However, its on the smaller side of actions by a fight superstar. He didn't rape someone (Tyson); he didn't drive drunk and high and crash his car into a pregnant lady and then run from the scene only to return to grab his crack pipe (Jones)...in the end; he'll walk away with some heavy fines; maybe a couple of million in lawsuits; and maybe a 6-12 month suspension. But if he fights in Russia, they don't need permission for him to fight in the states from my understanding. The three misdemeanors will be probably settled out of court or plead as no contest....and felony will probably also be plead to as a no contest and downgraded to a misdemeanor. On top of all this, the UFC has major major major marketing material now.

If DFW actually gave a fuck; he would have stripped and fired Conor right then and there. But all he sees is $$$$.

Sad that this is how it goes down; but this is the world of sports entertainment. That mug shot screams t shirts, coffee cups, posters, coasters, etc...he was treated like royalty in custody...amazing photo op this morning being escorted out of the precinct in cuffs. Maybe the UFC didn't think he would take it this far; but you're gonna have a hard time convincing me that they were completely blind to this.

Apparently the UFC were going to announce that he had signed a new deal to return to the UFC this week, possibly tomorrow night, but were still ironing out some details. Would also explain why he was in town if not solely to confront Khabib. So yeah, that's probably not happening. I understand the cynical feeling that these events can give you and I also know the UFC will use everything from this weekend as promotional material later on but I dunno about any of it being staged.

Also they can't fire him because he'll take a bite out of their business.

Yeah, apparently the UFC was floating the idea of him vs RDA for the interim 170 lb title; too. His next fight was supposed to be announced today at the press conference. I still think he fights Khabib later this year.

Staged might not be the right word; but I do think it was partly encouraged for him to confront Khabib/Tony winner. With Tony falling out earlier this week; I think a good majority were expecting a confrontation between Khabib and Conor. Based off of past history; it really was going to be something drastic...I just didn't think it would be that drastic.

If indeed it was 100% all Conor; I hope he can get the help that he needs before he fucks his life up beyond repair. He has a child and a wife; at some point you have to grow up. Maybe Dana needs to have a serious sit down with him and recommend he seek help and he won't be scheduling him for a fight until Conor seems more stable.

WME and Dana WILL NOT be filing a civil suit against Conor to recoup compensation for his shenanigans.

Khabib wants a world tour with Conor leading up to a fight...

Conor just being a company man, again.
