well IMO barton has already shown more than Nolan ever did and he is significantly cheaper, he was a good 2nd rd pick IMO, Nolan was simple a terrible pick
Nolan smith is still cheap too. Nolan is being paid almost twice as much as Barton. 880k is chump change for a player.
Yeah he was a mid first rounder. There is a big difference between the two. Where our team really dropped the ball was the freeland signing. He is arguably the biggest based by performance.
Would you guys trade for or sign a young versatile back court player with a PER over 18, who shoots the ball well as well as rebounds and passes well?
Absolutely!!!! His numbers are better overall than Matthews, and he is the type of player who would allow Lillard to play off the ball a bit more
I disagree - he's far better suited to starting. He doesn't have the greatest handles, so he can't really be the guy to come in off the bench and run the second unit's offense. Also, he's a good/great defender and you want your best defensive players playing against the oppositions best offensive players. We're not going to upgrade the starting SG position - it's just NOT gonna happen.
Keep in mind that either Batum or Lillard will be in the game all the time. They are both good at the role you suggest. Having Wes come off the bench will provide solid defense, plus a much better scoring. We could find a starting quality SG that can shoot with more consistency like JJ reddick or find a defensive minded SF role player to start and move Batum at starting SG.
I think a back-up pg is more of a priority than a back-up SG. Of course, we need interior defense as well.
