US ending COVID entry requirements this Sunday for coming into the country internationally. It was stupid in the first place, they should have had it be proof of vaccination/booster OR COVID test.
I may actually want to fly to Vancouver next month. I was going to drive to seattle and drive over to Canada, but may just flight direct now that there's no COVID rule. Prices cheaper than flying to Seattle anyway.
Apparently there is a pilot shortage (can't imagine why....), so there are frequent cancellations and less routes right now. And the gas prices.
May be changing my proposal location. Haven't decided if I want to take a ferry to Victoria and do it there or not.
May want to verify. Apparently it ends Sunday at midnight? But your airport in Europe may not have gotten the memo before then.
You gotta have all the logistics figured out. When I popped the question, we had just arrived in Rome, I told the wifey "hey, lets go for a walk, I hear the Trevi fountain is so nice at night" (it was almost midnight). I got there, it was still crowded. So I told her I was hungry, lets get something to eat. Only thing open was McDonalds 2 blocks away, so we went there. Came back, it was more empty. Then did my thang.
I've got some time to solve the logistics. If I have to get down on one knee with a big mac in my belly, I'll have planned poorly.
It worked out better, I was able to set a video camera on a ledge and film it (and it wasn't stolen by any of the Indian scammers hovering around the area). The scammers did get us to give them 20 euro to take some pics for us. They did some shitty polaroids too but they actually turned out kinda good (they took pics with my cam too).
I'm going to take the test anyway, just in case. It's free and easy, and the Germans are very much into weird rules no matter how nonsensical they may be. Better than dealing with anything unexpected.
All boarded up from Frankfurt to PDX. Looks like I get an empty seat next to me for my 10 hr 55min flight, so that is awesome. Condor has been great actually, I really recommend them. Frankfurt airport was a marvel of efficiency and ease, such a contrast to Paris last month. I will be going through Frankfurt more often. The Rhine River area around Frankfurt is really amazing by the way. So laid back, cute and tourist friendly. So many little villages to explore. We also spent time in the Maastricht Netherlands, which was fantastic also. This trip has been great at getting away from the crowds and just enjoying the atmosphere. Drove through the Belgium country side also, does that count as visiting the country for my "been to list?"
