``That's a lot of money to give up,'' Van Exel said Tuesday. ``I already gave up a lot of money. That's tough. I doubt if I'll do it again. But you never know.''

When Van Exel was traded from the Denver Nuggets to the Dallas Mavericks in February 2002, he agreed to give up the last year of his contract in 2005-06, worth $12.7 million.

Van Exel also said he would like to finish his career by playing in Dallas, Houston or San Antonio.

``After next season, I want to play for a team in Texas,'' said Van Exel, whose son lives in Houston.</div>
