Vance says Camby likely to be moved. Ford says maybe Matthews.

Well at least it isn't like the article by Sean Deveany of the Sporting news. He has a list of 4 deals he thinks should be made. He suggested Orlando trade 4 of their backups for Joel Pryzbilla. I wonder if he even bothered to look at how full our roster is before he thought that was a great idea.

That reminds me I thought I was Warkentein given a Knicks position the other day. But it was just on the NBATV news scrolling at the bottom of the screen, so didn't really check it out any further.

If Portland trades Matthews, I may stop watching the games. He's one of the best things to happen to the Blazers in a long time, and I can't imagine him playing in another uniform.

Even a broken clock gets the time right twice a day.

In the NBA it isn't any great risk saying a GM or coach will be fired. It's only a matter of time before you are correct.

There is no convincing HCP that Vance knows anything. it doesn't matter that he has broken things in the past or not. Only the Mikes know what is going on

FWIW, Larry Miller was on Courtside and when asked if the team will talk to McMillan about an extension, Larry with his his little smirky smile answered "we'll talk". Everyone seemed to take it as the team will try to bring McMillan back.

The team would be crazy to let McMillan walk.

I agree it makes sense usually - but it was not in Portland with the team riding high and KP being so popular with the fanbase at large.

Aldridge is the only guy I'd expect to be untouchable.

The other 14 guys it would simply matter who we got in return.

Wesley has been a much-needed shot in the arm, but he has a PER of 15.2, and he has the worst Drtg (109) of the current starting 5 (tied with Batum, but Nic has an Ortg of 116, and Matthews is at 111), which is even odder considering the team has a Drtg of 107. If teams want him, Cho needs to consider what he could get in return, IMO.

Allen picks the coaches, and has a checkered history at best. Carlisimo, Schuler, Cheeks...fired Adleman...

The speculation from Vance and Chad Ford in the original post is no better than what you read on this board. They're just making up their guesses. Yet this thread treats Vance and Ford as if they know more than we do in any average post. Who cares.

I can't really think of a player whom Matthews could be traded for and would help the team more. However, I could envision Matthews plus Batum (and perhaps contracts that can remove money from a team's payroll next season...Przybilla and Miller, say) bringing back a really nice player. For example, if New Orleans really did decide they couldn't keep Paul long-term, financially or for any other reason, I could see that being a competitive bid. Not equal value, but potentially one they'd bite on if they decided to trade Paul.

As much as I love Batum and like Matthews, turning them into one impact player would be fantastic.

Now, that's just silly. Adelman is regarded around the league as one of the 5-8 best coaches in the business. You could also ask, "what has Jerry Sloan won?" but that doesn't diminish the fact that Sloan is a top 3 coach in the league.

It goes to show specific victory milestones aren't a great measure of a coach. I think Adelman is a great coach, but the "What has he won?" argument isn't a particularly good one in evaluating coaches. The answer, in every case, is: "Basketball games. We can debate whether those games represent good work or bad work with the talent he had on hand."

"What has he won?" is an attempt to make a needlessly simplistic argument because the person making it doesn't want to, or doesn't have the ability to, make a more sophisticated, nuanced argument.

    A lot of playoff games.

I hate the argument that you aren't a good coach unless you've won championships. How many coaches have won rings anyway? 20 in the past 50 years?
