Now seriously you can yawn at whatever thread you like. I just don't get the point of saying you don't like a thread then posting in it. Do you see food you dislike, complain about it, and then order it?
I dont agree with it but after #6 no team below realistically has a shot at winning the west so its not something ill worry about Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Alright, I'll actually explain. I don't mind putting off work for a few more minutes. MM is taking the professional naysaying to the extreme limit and using this thread as "evidence" that the blazers suck. I was pointing out that yes, this is a nonpositive statement about the blazers, but it's not even talking about how the team will finish, it's talking about the team's odds to win the west. It is not a nonsequitur, but it is far from "proof." This is one data point. If there were many such data points, then he could forcefully make a "preponderance of the evidence" argument. He's not, he's just needling. Rather than explain all this, I found it easier to just use the word "yawn." I like the thread fine, but like the Deveney SportingNews threads that I created, it's just one data point. That's why I'm so interested in the ESPN rankings, it's a poll of 212 members of the media.
So what he is saying is that he made a special trip to the thread so he could personally attack me by saying yawn.
I think Vegas odds makers believe we are 13th. That doesn't make it so, but that's the most unbiased outsider view of this team you're likely to find, because the only thing they care about is setting a line or odds that will make them money. Another factor to consider is that oddsmakers are also trying to account for a bettors psychology and establish lines so bets will be split fifty percent to a side; so don't take the odds as absolute rankings
If you did that, it would have to happen more frequently than every 65 years since your payoff is less. Of the gambles presented, the Blazers are one of the better values.
Odds aren't a ranking as Nik pointed out. Could be that Vegas wants to up the action on rabid blazer fans by offering a huge payout. A fool and his money and whatnot
Impressive that we were ranked 13th in the west in that year since there were only 12 teams. That is a huge achievement by both the team and the Vegas odds makers. Oh, also by you who remembers the odds from 37 years ago Edited name
I had decided to put $500 on the Blazers but my buddy ended up rescheduling his trip to Vegas so the bets never got made. So kicking myself right now! Hopefully we can win against the Jazz on Friday, I mean Vegas gave them better odds to win the west this season.
Man could you imagine the guys that put $1,000 on the blazers and wins this season? That's like a million bucks!
