Just curious, why did you think that this nearly impossible idea of making moves to acquire Millsap was worthy of posting about, and why in this old thread?
Vets are certainly part of almost any successful team. But with the Blazers were they are against the Luxury tax, they have to get vets on very inexpensive contracts. Someone like Millsap would be great but we can't trade Crabbe (injury) and why would ATL want Turner for Millsap? The problem is, inexpensive vets wouldn't be that good as Portland isn't a contending team. So you'd have a Kaman type vet sitting on the bench not playing giving out advice.
Should I have created a new thread for this. Maybe I should find the tweet by CJ that he wants Millsap.
I'm just glad we have franchise players trying to push Blazers management to get some good all star vets. Not just keeping a young team and building out of the draft every year getting hopefull on potential.
I, too, am glad we have players suggesting the team get All-Star veterans. It would otherwise never occur to anyone (let alone the fat cats in the front office!) that All-Stars are good players to have. Now that it's been suggested, the only question is how many All-Star veterans we should sign or trade for.
Here's CJ's tweet: A an emoticon of a pair of bulging eyes is your basis for saying that CJ has given deep consideration to the prospects of Millsap joining the Blazers?
Ricky Rubio would be my pipedream. He'd he the 3rd guard/sixth man at PG/SG getting starter minutes - think of him as a rich mans Livingston. Getting him to agree to this role is one thing - so is putting the pieces together to land him is another. Another vet, although still young, I'd target is TJ Warren. PHX is poised to land Jackson/Tatum making Warren available.
Pippen 2.0? Make my eyes bulge. How long has Millsap been in the league compared to Scottie when he joined?
Rubio and Turner on the court together would be very ugly to watch. If Rubio's your pipedream then you're dreaming too realistic.
Rubio will be available if Minnesota draft Ntilikina or Dennis Smith, which is very probable. They won't be able to give minutes to all of Smith/Ntilikina, Dunn and Rubio. Actually, they are also one team that would maybe take Crabbe or even Leonard as they desperately need players who can shoot (though Meyers cannot even do that anymore these days, unless you leave him completely open with the closest player being located in a different state).
I've started this one. Nothing is happening in this area - we still need some vet players to avoid 20:0 chaos in every game. Olshey seems to prefer nice, tall, white boys sitting on the bench instead. I'm pretty sure those guys wouldn't be harmed if they got some mental help ON the court. And if we have "assets" and we are waiting for winter trade, why we play six players rotation?
But, but... 1) The Golden Future! 2) Let it bake! 3) Everyone has to be Lillard's age! 4) The Oregonian likes scared young gentlemen they can control! 5) Anyone who has learned many other coaches' systems will resist our coach's weird system! Remember how Andre Miller, and then the experienced group after him, stopped listening to McMillan?
The Wolves have the most experienced roster this year, so suddenly they're winning. http://www.startribune.com/timberwo...-what-professionalism-is-all-about/455475603/
