The simple answer is that Claver is not good enough at basketball to be even an okay NBA player. He sucks, he can go back to his awful league so he can feel good about himself instead of working for it.

Freeland and Robinson play over him because they are much better at basketball.

I disagree that this is the reason. Trob is a SPECIMEN who has much more upside as a PF than VC. Freeland is a legit 6'10" PF who can defend Centers....

Claver could be a contributing back up on many teams. It's not hard to develop a consistent jump shot.

Well as much as I like Wright he hasn't exactly been a flame thrower either.

On teams with the worst bench in the league, maybe.

    He's not good at anything.

I and I'm sure many posters in here disagree with this notion.

Yeah he's not good at anything. Do you want Asik on this team? Claver schools him in this vid...

Word. He's not great at any one specific thing, but simply all around good. Hopefully he'll continue to work on his shot and become a reliable utility player for us in the future.

..that is if he doesn't "return to Europe as soon as possible."

Victor has an NBA game, he's a smart player, above average defender, moves well without the ball, he's just going through what Joel went through last year, a shooting slump. Victor is actually 6'10 and Joel is not 6'10, he's 6'11 and put in the defensive work to beat Meyers for minutes. Problem with Vic is that while he's not shooting the ball well at all this season, he keeps taking shots. That's going to make the coach bench you. Stotts likes Victor. Victor needs to find his shot to compete for rotation minutes. He should only take long jumpers when the shot clock demands it. When Joel was cold shooting last season we saw the same thing, his minutes disappeared.

It will be interesting to see what comes from this. Might the Rockets fancy him in a trade?
