This is the TNT pregame show for the first game on Sunday. It's 50 minutes long, but it is worth watching through to the end. Most but not all of the Nuggets coverage is in the first 10 minutes or so. But there is a short Melo interview at about 40 minutes in, and more from a sideline reporter nerar the end. There is a great Don Nelson interview earlier, somewhere around 25 or 30 minutes in. Near the very end, there is an overall playoff preview, which is very good. The Nuggets-Spurs game 1 is covered in the first half of this 7 minute video. For those who skip the second half, which is on the first Suns-Lakers game, I'll let you know that, at the end, the TNT guy reports that the Spurs bench has outscored the Nuggets bench 22-3. At the end, it was 36-6, so no adjustments were made at the half. But the Nuggets still won, with superstar performances from almost all of their starters. Unfortunately, that is not the kind of miracle that you can rely on, so either Mr. Karl makes adjustments for game 3 and beyond to get J.R. Smith and Linas Kleiza more involved, or the Spurs would be favored to take the series. Nuggets-Spurs Game 1 TNT Halftime
This is the A.I. postgame interview for game 1, which the Nuggets starters single-handedly won: Nuggets 95 Spurs 89. Iverson Game 1 Post Game Interview
Here is the postgame news conference for Coach George Karl, following game 1, which was Nuggets 95 Spurs 89. Karl blows off the lack of offense from outside of the starters by saying that different games will produce different scoring patterns. That's not what most other NBA coaches think; most coaches want to keep things as consistent as possible, and not be on some adventure where you have different types of offenses in different games. The funniest point is when Karl says that "he wanted to strangle" Steve Blake for one single "awful" jump shot late in the game. The funny thing is, Karl was not just joking, he was half serious. In terms of playing minutes, J.R. Smith has been strangled for taking a few awkward looking or unwise shots, despite his being one of the best young 3-point shooters in the NBA. The overall impression I get is of a coach who, despite the win, does not really have confidence that the Nuggets will win the series. There is alot of doubting of and worrying about the Nuggets on and just below the surface of Karl's news conference. That's bad. Very bad.
