Really?? Jeez my bad I always thought of Pierce as more of a mid-range jump shooter.

I like VC in New Jersey, as long as Kidd is there Carter will continue to thrive.

However, to all you Magic fans that are saying "NOOOO NO VINCE", he's actually not as bad defensively as "experts" make it seem. If he's on your team and playing like the way he has this season (I think this year he's played all 82 games, or will play all 82 games) then he's an absolute joy to watch, not to mention he increases your fan base with his highlights (which are more so recurring now, if you've watched any recent courtside countdowns) and overall appeal. He's a great scorer, an average (or perhaps above average when he's actually trying) one-on-one defender and yes, he can block shots too, just chooses not to in order to conserve energy I guess.

Furthermore, you wouldn't have to give up anything since he's an unrestricted free agent so I see no reason why you guys are complanining. If he was actually on your team you wouldn't be complaining but rather rejoicing. "Grab what you can get" is the name of the game and Carter would be a great addition to any team.

I don't think you understand our mindset over here. We're not just worried about his "defense". There are plenty of reasons Vince Carter is not the right person to be in Orlando.

If the organization does not go his way, he will stop playing. He would be sucking up 1/3 of our salary, and not even earning it. We had that BS with his cousin Tracy already. No, we learned our lesson then and we will not repeat our mistakes.

I've got photographs from Carter's new home in Orlando. It's disgusting to know how much money he makes-- and how much of it he didn't earn. He alienates his teammates as well.

I fail to see the relveancy of that part of your post.

Okay....out of the 200 or whatever players in the NBA, how much actually really "earn" thier checks? Yes, it's ridiculous the amount of money he makes, but is it more ridiculous then Jerome James? Stephon Marbury? Any other NBA player? If you're getting paid so much more then doctors and lawyers for putting a ball through a hoop (regardless of how much work ethic it takes to be good at the sport, its always that; a sport), where do we draw the line of who earns thier money or not?

Furthermore, have you seen Vince play? I am a Raptor fan and yes, it was wrong how he conducted himself during the end of his tenure in Toronto but to base the rest of his career off that is quite ignorant.

Just like you "learned from your mistake" with Tracy, do you think Vince just took everything that happened the way it did in T.O with a slap on the wrist? Do you know how hard it is to build a rep again? Do you really think he'd end off any more tenures the way he did Toronto?

As for alienating his teammates. I need examples, sources, proof. If it is just your opinion then okay, that's great to see you say that, I need an instance, I need a source that says that he indeed alienates his teammtes.
If you're talking on the court then obviously you have not seen Vince Carter play often. If you did, you would know that he is an EXCELLENT (and im not talking loosely) passer that is often underrated i nthat stance. Furthermore, he's actually a little too passive sometimes and needs to be guided in terms of when to take over, which he can certainly do.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">You think Vince Carter can shoot threes better than Pierce? Shapecity pointed out an interesting fact a couple weeks ago: Paul Pierce holds the Celtics' franchise record for most three pointers. That's right, he has more threes than the great Larry Bird. I don't think you can say Pierce is worse at threes than Carter.</div>
Bird being a three point shooter was overatted. He his clutch three's, and big ones, but he didn't actually shoot them much.

About Carter and taking shots, you have to realize that Carter is not one who goes out and tries to put himself above his teammates. He's always been called too unselfish when he needed to be more selfish, if happened in Toronto, and in New Jersey this season. So if you guys did get him, there would be no problem with Dwight Howard getting touches.

Also I don't understand why some of you say you want Wallace, but not Diaw. Diaw is not a big man, he's a PG/SG/SF/PF/C, and his true position is F/G. Wallace is nice, but his game is more of an athletic PF's, than a SF's. With Howard being your big man, and playing inside, I think having a SF with perimeter abilities along with the ability to defend would help. Now, Diaw is no shooter, but he's much better than Wallace [who as a SF takes 62% of his shots in the paint], brings defense, passing, versatility, and is improving.

Now, to be serious, I don't think Phoenix will let him go anyways, neither will Charlotte let Gerald go easily.

I don't think his D is underrated. More like what og15 said: his bad D is overrated.

Don't think Orlando should commit to Carter, in what will likely be his last big payday. They tried going for the big names back when they decided to build around McGrady and it blew up in their face. Not that Grant Hill's injury was foreseeable, but the Magic should look at filling needs and paying for depth rather than big names.
