All-Star Game, what comes to mind? Jaw dropping dunks, spectacular passes and whats more is super stars flying down the court making amazpling plays. Guys, stop judging if players deserve to be on the All-Star teams or not because of their team's record or the player's stats. People just pay to see a fun game, and Vince, arguably is the best dunker in the history of the NBA. Fans like him and support and vote for him, so whats the big deal? Their team's record and stats don't really matter when it comes to voting by fans, however when the coaches (or whoever) choses the reserves, i think that is where the stats and all come into play.

?If you really believe that statement you said, I question your love for BASKETBALL. Not who can jump highest. I mean, if a player doesn't make the All Star Game just because he isn't "exciting" is truly a joke. If the Nba wants there All Star Game to become a huge joke, they are on the right path.

    ^^ .. absolutly right !

for example .. Ben Wallace has collected the second most votes so far !
.. is he a great dunker ?? hell no
he is not an offensive threat
does he makes exciting plays ?? .. rarely !

he got all those votes because fans who voted for him appreciate what he brings to the game ! .. his toughness .. his hard work ethic ! .. they the know the all star that Ben is

in the other hand .. Desmond Mason didn't get many votes .. neither did J-Rich .. neither did Lebron ! who are way more exciting to watch than Big Ben

Fine, maybe your right too. But Ben Wallace is getting second most votes is because he is listed in Eastern Centers. Think about it, Centers in East are pretty weak, and of course Ben would be getting all the votes for the starting center. AS for J_rich, and Desmond , there are more exciting guards to see in their conferences. But I still think their team's record don't matter, maybe their stats alittle.

Mcgrady^1 is right, would you want to watch an All-Star game with a bunch of the boringest players, like Tim Duncan or any slow, boring players? Hell No. I remember watching an ASG in the 70's, it was the most boring basketball I've seen in my life. That's because its all fundamentals.

Thank you McGrady^1 and vinsanity for understanding what I was trying to say. And even though Ben is a defender he still is exiting because of the nice blocks and ali oops, oh and did I mention his hair?

lol to the prophecy. I understand the motives for your post...but all-star games ( and it has been quoted by many broadcasters) are games where there is a complete lack of defense. All-star games are made for the fans...and the fans like high-flying, above the rim games with a barrel of beautiful handles and passes that only the likes of t-mac, VC, AI, Pierce, and kobe (to name a few) can provide. However.....the coaches of the respective teams also want their teams to win, which is why the big guys (ie Shaq, Duncan, Webber, KG) can provide. Imo...KG is a beautifully flowing mix of a big man and an above the rim player.
*Also...people only vote for the well-renowned big men that have developed a distinct place in the NBA (Duncan, Shaq, Garnett).
about yao....(just leave it to the asians) :|

lol, u guys are right, who wants to see Duncan go for a hook shot, or even when he dunks he dunks [not so cool, lol] don't get me wrong Duncan is the best player in the NBA, he diserves the votes, but its what fans want to see, and well they spoke Carter, so all B*&^&*%$ be quiet.
