Usually those are tip-dunk attempts though. I'm more interested in the scenarios in which he's already come down, gathered himself, and can go back up strong but usually doesn't.

One thing I see he getting more minutes that have to give him confidence that the coach is starting to have confidence in him. Last two games he has took some of ML minutes at the back up center. Matter fact ML didn't get off the bench in 2nd half last night. Trust is big thing for a young player and I do believe Vonleh is starting to break out.

Vonleh is finally growing up.....at 21 and it's really a good sign...I love what I'm seeing from him and Nurk much better than when he started with Mason

    Way off. Jeff had:

    No jumper.
    No D.
    No handles.
    No faceup game.

    They're almost nothing alike.

I've always had high hopes for Vonleh, but that hasn't really been justified until the last few games. I have no idea if he's actually turning a corner, or if it's just another blip, but it sure would solve a lot of problems if he can become a reliable starting caliber PF.

    In short, no skill.

In all fairness, he did have a couple decent years in IND and SAS, but in POR I'll always remember him for the last game he played here. It was the final game of the regular season against GSW. Pendy scored 23 points in a loss against a depleted Warriors squad that saw Don Nelson play four of his starters (Curry, Ellis, Anthony Tolliver and Reggie Williams) the entire 48 minutes of the game. It was weird, because it was a completely meaningless game, but Nellie was coaching like it was Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

He seems to grow in discrete steps rather than a continuous arc. Remember the way he abused the PHO teenagers in the preseason? It was like he suddenly realized he was older, stronger and more experienced then they were and just flat out took them to the woodshed.

Now, with Nurk as an example, it seems like he's starting to realize he can do those same things against "real" players.

    Nurk for mayor!

Oh, this thread is about Vonleh. He's getting better.

Can we get back to talking about Nurkic now? :)

Nurk probably told him "you don't dunk ball I fuck your face" or something.

But yah I've always liked Vonlehs potential. When we were talking about Nurkic before the trade, I assumed Denver would want Vonleh, but was still intrigued by a Nurk/Vonleh pairing. Vonleh is the modern day power forward, in theory. Can guard the post, athletic enough to switch on the perimeter, can post up, and has a decent enough shot to draw defenders out. Now if this theory can become a reality, our biggest question mark gets answered and we could go into the draft truly just drafting BPA.
