Honestly, can't see that it would hurt and assuming Dame has a professional attitude in this situation (I think he would), then it likely helps, only issue would be minutes with Dame, Scoot, Simons, Shae

delete Simons from that list and there's no issue

It will absolutely help Scoot to play against Dame on whatever team he's on. You want to test yourself against the best!

50+ million per season for "specialist" coach to help the young players learn Blazer basketball is too expensive.

No effect on Scoot's development. The things Scoot does well nobody else does.

I am more worried about Bumbly Billups giving playing time to Lillard that should go to Sharpe.

I will say that Lillard playing can only help the Blazers win games.

The one caveat is Billups. He could play Lillard when it's unnecessary and even detrimental.

    I decided on "Help."

Dame will help the Blazers get to the playoffs.

Playing in the playoffs would be fantastic for Scoot. Sorry for those of you who want to Tank.

Tanking does not help Scoot's development. Or Sharpe's.

I just think that our extremely crowded back court will definitely cut Scoot's PT and therefore his reps and the dude needs reps. I understand that this thread isn't about Shaedon but I think Dame still being on the team and playing will do the same to him.

As far as the pipedream of keeping Dame for good goes. If we can keep Dame, that probably means the prudent thing to do is to trade Scoot... you... don't... want... that much talent... tied up in two small guards... that are most effective... with the ball in their hands... wait where have I typed this before. What in the actual fuck are people talking about on here when they are musing about playing Dame in a back court with Scoot for the rest of Dame's career? I realize that Scoot brings a very different skill set than Dame, CJ and Ant but that skill set is still best utilized with the ball in his hands and as ripped as the kid is he is still under 6'4" and we know what we get from playing two small guards on defense. Why does anyone want to keep doing this?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!

Now that I finished freaking out, I would sit Dame he just proved to everyone in the league that he's either the first (or more likely second to Luka) most potent offensive weapon in the league, he doesn't need to and probably can't increase his trade value, the only thing that can do that is shifting conditions around the league on other teams. Dame definitely could get hurt and fuck up his trade value. I am still really hoping that a trade comes together before training camp, I don't want this Dame drama looming. Ready for the Scoot/Shae era and also ready to integrate any pieces we get in the Dame trade. I love Dame and I'll root for him wherever he ends up but for the most important thing to me which is our team, I'm ready to move the fuck on. Scoot is better off without Dame.

Lillard will only be helpful to Scoot's development. I don't see him being a disruption. We have already seen the article saying Dame is ready to come into training camp. I don't see a trade happening before the season starts. There will be minutes enough for both him and Scoot if that is the concern.

It's possible, though not very likely, that Dame returns, and the Blazers play so well, that he rescinds his trade demand. Don't get your hopes up though.

Yes, i think you are right. Part of me thinks Miami don't value Dame enough and Dame is pissed at the Heat and will go 180.

It's like when Barney thought he and Robin had a mutual agreement, only to find out they're not on the same page. IYKYK otherwise pls ignore

    I'm dreaming here

Both Scottie Barnes and Ant Simons have same NBA2k rating. Whoever makes those ratings think they're not too far apart.

Toronto is frontcout rich, backcourt poor

We are backcourt rich, frontcourt poor

Could Ant / future draft capital turn into Scottie?

    Highly unlikely, but

    Dame / Scoot
    Shae/ Tisse
    Jerami / Nas / Rayan
    Scottie / Kris / Jabari
    Nurk / Backup C

    That's a playoff team
A little bit of seasoning and if Sharpe is him, we're talking contenders

It doesn't hurt Scoot's development. In the short term, Sharpe plays more at SF (along with Thybulle) with a 3-guard lineup of Lillard, Simons, Scoot.
Grant is backed up by a rookie and a 2nd year player.

Shorter guards (they're not small, and all 3 have plenty good wingspan). 2 shorter SFs with wingspan.
The weakness REMAINS at having a 2nd higher quality, starting forward to go with Grant ... and an actually promising young center.
And a healthy Nurkic. And good big man depth.

It's not a Lillard thing. It's two starting positions in the front court. Fix SF or C with a Lillard trade, and it's not an unacceptable loss.

Great post. I agree. I think Miami is out of the equation after season starts and Dame could see enough that he likes the chances here over the next three years.

Dame doesn't have much power to do anything, especially after requesting a trade.

    Who has the power?

Cronin. Cronin can now trade Dame without being the "bad guy." He also has the power to keep Dame.

The other party that has some power are the teams bidding for Dame's services. Cronin can't make anyone give him what he wants.

    Not Dame. Not anymore.

The nice thing is if Scoot doesn't pan out we can keep him around as spare parts for Dame.

That would not be good for Scoot's development.
