Nope. Again, I do not believe in the mantra if you don't vote, you have no right to complain.

My point about Voting for Obama meaning that you can't complain was used as an example of this train of thought.

I think its pretty stupid for people to say that if you don't vote, you can't complain. Sure you can.

Sure, if we want to extend the metaphor. More to the point, suing is an example of complaint. Even if you do your due dilligence and hire someone (as a contractor or as President), you still retain your right to complain if they do a poor job of what you hired them to do.

How is not voting different? I did my due dillegence, found that the candidates suck. I'm apathetic to the ballot measures.

Me making no vote IS making a statement.

The difference is that you can write in a candidate. If that were not true, then you'd be right...being offered a slate of people and being forced to pick among them is not fair, if you dislike them all. You are still entitled, in that situation, to complain because you never got a choice you endorsed.

However, since you can write a candidate in, you have all people over 35 years old who were born in the US among your options. Implying that none of them are to your liking and opting out, by not voting at all, is essentially saying that anyone is fine by you. Which makes complaints a bit less valid.

ACORN, though fucked up, casts the greatest shadow ever in the HISTORY of this country? Your talking about AMERICAN history? OVERALL history? With such a wealth of low points in US history, ACORN is the greatest shadow? I see.

Those of us who really love this country and liberty and all that it stands for? I heard that on a right-wing radio show, implying that conservatives love the country and liberals hate it and want to destroy it. Is that your implication, or was it more of a shot at someone else?

I look forward to that post. I'm curious how ACORN is going to cause a million fraudulent votes. I don't think they could even if they wanted to.

Please. You're talking about shit on a microscopic level. By me not voting, and being registered to vote, I am making a statement.

Low voter turnout, IMO, trumps 3rd party voting.

OK, what I should have said was casting the greatest shadow over a presidential election. My mistake.

Not as far as making a statement goes. People have been not voting for decades, it hasn't changed anything. And this year is likely to have a very high turnout, so a non-voter won't be noticed this time around.

Not really. You're simply telling the main two parties that they can ignore one more person. Lots of people voting for a third party would be a statement. Lots of people not voting just makes the task for the Republicans and Democrats easier. Fewer people to have to appeal to, the easier and more focused the task becomes.

If you have a LOW republican turnout...republicans NOT voting...then it changes thing. Perhaps voting for Keyes may help more....we'll see....they'll be split between him and libertarians

Not really. I'm a registered republican, so this shows up on their election results I believe.

Good point - that does make a statement. In fact, I think that statement will be heard this year.

I'm not voting, but I do have a question. I live in MN but go to school in ND. If I were to vote, it'd be at ND, so would I be voting as a North Dakotan or Minnesotan?

Voting is a right that countless of our ancestors have died for. As such, voting is also responsibility. More than anything, however, voting is a gift. Billions of people on this planet don't have that right. We owe it to our forefathers and those that can't vote to undertake the act as seriously and studiously as possible.

Fuck that. Our ancestors would have taken a trip to the Bahamas instead of fighting for this country if they knew we would be reduced to this.

I made my voice known a few months ago when some hippie bitch stepped in front of me at a grocery store and asked me if I would sign a petition to raise room taxes in Vegas to give more money to our schools.

I told her to get the fuck out of my face. I literally said "get the fuck outta my face"

If she didn't piss her hemp infused adult diaper right then and there she probably came close.

I am just going to sit back and watch this mother burn, we are going to get what we deserve IMO.

My helper left five minutes early today because he had to run home, shower and get to the DMV and try to get his crappy car smogged all in the same evening. I just laughed when my coworker asked me about it after work. He said "doesn't the DMV close at five, like in five minutes"

I said "YEP, I woulda told him but sometimes people need to learn shit on their own...like to call ahead and ask their hours"

    My coworker laughed. ha ha

That is me in a nutshell, you wanna try something on your own after I tell you it won't work...fine.

I am the same way but I admit that I was stupid when I fail.

I just hope the country admits how bad we have fucked up when the time comes.
