This isn't good There are only two ways that this trade works out in the celtics' favor. The first way is if they can move Szczerbiak for something decent. Otherwise we've traded a dynamic athlete who can score and defend for a shooter than doesn't shoot threes. We who watch the C's can tell you that scoring was not something that manifested itself as a problem. If Wally gets moved, then this is a whole other story. The other way that this can work out well is if the pick turns into something decent, but this is unlikely. The clippers already hold the rights to one of Minnys picks, and both are lottery protected. Also, as long as Garnett is there, Minnesota is just never going to be that bad. Blount for Olowokandi is obviously a wash, and that's only because of salaries, Blount is a much better player, as much as it hurts to say it. The NBDL center that was thrown in could show something later on, he's not bad, but he doesn't make up for anything. To Marcus we say, "It's been real, and it's been fun, but it hasn't been real fun." Later buddy. He's probably going to turn into Chauncey Billups. The thought annoys me a great deal. I like Justin Reed, but there was never any room for him. So maybe we'll see Gomes in garbage time again soon. And why are there two second rounders thrown in? Were we not getting robbed enough? Danny had better have some master plan that shakes this all out, because Szczerbiak is not going to be that useful on this team. My only thought is that he want to push Pierce out and make the lottery in the same year. It's not a pleasant thought at all. Bye Ricky, we'll miss you...
I can't even to begin to describe how upsetting it is loosing Ricky Davis. Timberwolve fans should be ecstatic, they are getting an amazing guy... As far as Danny Ainge and Celtics organization goes; I am disgusted in their decision and I think they should all be fired! The Celtics were so high on getting better defensive players, no offense to Wally but how does trading Ricky Davis and getting someone who can't playa lick of defense, even if his life depended on it help they Celtics defensively?? You want to send Blount, Banks and Reed over?..Okay.. But Ricky? COME ON!!! I still believe the Celtics have a good amount of talent remaining in Pierce, West and Jefferson, but how in the world are they going to make it to the playoffs now? I don't know maybe it because, I am the biggest Davis fan thats ever lived, but how does trading one of the NBA's top players help out this situation or make the Celtics a better team?? I can honestly say "I am so disappointed in the Celtics right now, and I do not think I will watch another Celtics game again." And To Ricky- I am sure all Celtic fans can say, Good Luck in Minnesota, we appreciate your heart and effort and all you have done for us the past few years. You've left us with hundreds of exciting memories, you will be missed dearly here in Boston.. We Love you!
No one is a winner in this trade. The only justification for the Celtics making this trade is to commit to playing their younger players from here on out. The Celtics lost most of their athletic players in this deal, so does this mean Gerald Green gets called up from the NBDL? Is Ryan Gomes ready to play more meaningful minutes? With this trade finalized I have to imagine it means Doc Rivers is gone as head coach. He was brought in to run an uptempo style of basketball, but after losing Davis, Banks, and Blount this Celtics team lost a lot of speed and athleticism. On paper this could be one of the slowest teams in the league. It appears the vision is to force this team into being an effective half-court team. Wally can spread the defense better than Ricky Davis, which should benefit Al Jefferson in the post. I expect a lot more changes by the Celtics. What are the TWolves thinking? Ricky Davis is a nice addition, but adding another expensive, long contract in Blount doesn't make any sense. The TWolves continue to make mistakes at the center position, Nesterovic, Kandiman, and now Blount, down the line you can't help but see Jerome James ending up in Minnesota.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post"> On paper this could be one of the slowest teams in the league. .</div> HAHAHA!!! i didnt think of it that way but youre RIGHT!! they Are one of the slowest teams in the league now. they wont be able to run ANYONE off the court. Say good bye to your dreams of fast break and up tempo basketball. pathetic danny ainge really cant seem to make up his mind about anything but getting more white players on the team! at least maybe now theyll fire doc
I think Minnesota got the better deal. Ricky Davis is a heck of alot more athletic than Wally, and that's what KG needs around him. An athletic & explosive scorer, who can pass and play decent defense. Blount can always be traded again, Minnesota won't keep him for the remainder of his conract I'd say. If they can do a good deal for Blount in the future, it will happen. Unless he comes to Minnesota and puts on a show for all of us.
I thought the Celtics were giving the first rounder so I was like, uhh?? Cause I remembered picks were involved just not how many and whos they all were. I understand now Run BJM. I guess it isnt as bad as I thought for the Celtics but the upperhand still goes to the T'Wolves.
I think we gave up too much...I dont think Olowokandi will see a lotta time for us since our future is Al and Kendrick...so essentially we gave away Davis, Banks and Blount for Wally and a pick?
Well, I could care less if we gave away Blount for free. He lacks heart and he does not put any effort into getting rebounds; I mean come on West was averaging more rebounds a game then Blount. Plus he never seemed to be in a good mood, he always had a chip on his shoulder, and having a constant negative attitude does not help the chemistry of a young team. Banks just did not seem to ever fit into Doc's style of play, so I am glad he will have the opportunity to get more playing time, as he could develop into a solid point guard. Giving up Ricky was simply foolish, yes he turned the ball over a lot but he has so much to offer- He is one of the most dynamic and athletic players the NBA has to offer; and when Ricky gets going offensively there is no stopping him. Not to mention what a fan favorite he became here in Boston while re-creating that so called "bad influence" image. He was always the one giving the young guys some advice and made sure their spirits were never down. Without a doubt I'll miss Ricky the most, but Reed was a big loss to me too. I always wondered why he never got enough playing time, hes a big strong kid who can power his way to the basket and fource fouls, he only needed some more experience to develop into that great defensive player everyone was so excited about. Each of the four guys distributed to the team in their own way, and they will be missed (except Blount).
