One of the nephews cracked the face of my sister's gps. She's on a tight budget so she doesn't want to buy a new one at this time. (She doesn't have a smart phone, either.) Anyone have a working one they're willing to part with at a reasonable price? Thanks!
Honestly, she might get a better deal on a used smartphone. Synch it up with wifi and download the app Backcountry Navigator: http://www.backcountrynavigator.com/ Doesn't require cell phone coverage to operate. You download maps while on wifi. This single app is so much nicer than all the gps devices I've used in the past. Plus whenever you're near wifi, hey, internet!
Check out some of the smartphones in here for under a hundred bucks (no contract): http://www.virginmobileusa.com/shop/cell-phones/android-phones/#/sort_love/view_grid/type_android/ Add backcountry navigator for $15. Oh wait, is this for city driving? I've never used the app for that (just hiking). I would think it'd work, but you might look into it.
Is this considered too costly? New - 5" screen - Included lifetime map update... http://www.meijer.com/s/tomtom-star...AWELAID=415254522&PID=4485850&cmpid=commjunct Petey
Thanks guys.....I just offered $17 (plus $9 shipping) for this manufacturer's refurbished Magellan Roadmate 3055. We shall see if they accept.
