But hey, the Warrior Dash was a blast!! Steep fucking hills, though, and I covered head to toe with mud by the end of it!
I'll post one of my brother and me after the race once the Warrior Dash folks post it on their website. Head to toe mud, and it was tough but fun! 20' cargo net up/down was easier than I thought it would be, which surprised me, but the rolling logs in waist deep mud/water was so tiring just 1 mile into the Dash. 14 obstacles in all, and none of them were a cakewalk. One of my wife's friends blew out both knees jumping off of the car climbing obstace (2 cars but it's wet) right after that, but I didn't see it. The injured gal said that the First Aid tent was full of injured/WDs. It wasn't easy at all, but it was a blast. Steep hills, but something I guess most people never do unless they went through a boot camp. I think I'm doing both the Seattle and Portland Dashes next summer. That's how much of a good time I had.
I ran it in Washington this year. I managed to stay VERY clean (in a white shirt) and the guy who puked next to me at the very end didn't get any on me, so I considered it a win. Here's an image (taken from a pair of pics where I was in the background) of me clicking my heels over a flame obstacle.
I ran it as part of a group (with coworkers, some of whom weren't in very good shape) so it took ... forever. But I wasn't in my of a hurry. There was one significant injury that occurred near us. A woman fell off of a barricade/balance beam-like thing and her arm snapped. I didn't hear it/see it, but some of my coworkers did and said it was pretty grisly. Ed O.
Took our group 55 minutes, but there were 6 of us with two women, so we weren't really racing. Even at that snail's pace, I was exhausted a few times. North Plains is hilly as hell, and the course planners made the most of those hills when setting up the race.
There are some like that, but the Warrior Dash is the only one that puts in 14 obstacles in such a short stretch.
I think we went even MORE slowly than that... maybe 70+ minutes? Part of that was waiting in line at the obstacles, and part of it was waiting for the rest of our group and part of it (to be honest) was me being in rather poor shape and having to walk for stretches. Haha. Our site wasn't that hilly, so I can't even use that as an excuse. It was fun, although I wish that the weather had been a bit less ... Pacific Northwest Ed O.
