I like this stat line from the Fish:

    12 pts (on 4-5 FG, 1-1 3pt, 3-4 FT), 5 ast, 0 TO, 1 stl

If he played like that more often I would love him coming off the bench. Very good game by the Fish, especially considering the FG% and lack of TOs.

Aaron Miles and Chris Taft are taking advantage of their minutes. Dime droppin and shot blockin from rookies, great pick ups.

Joe Johnson is lucky Pietrus is such a nice guy. I would have loved to see him try that on Taft! I could just imagine Taft chasing him down and rebreaking his eye socket.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting BDiddyJRich:</div><div class="quote_post">Taft is doing very well for being as raw as he is. 2 points, 3 rebounds, 2 blocks.

I think something happened between Biedrins and Montgomery. After picking up those 2 fouls in 1 minute and being sent to the bench, Andris had a real sad look on his face. He was also being comforted by Davis on the bench.</div>

Well people know Biedrins isn't ready to play the center spot. He just doesn't have the NBA body right now and he tends to bite too much on fakes and he reachs in too much. It's nothing personal, it's just what needed to be done.

If you watch Taft he's a very calm smart defender. He doesn't panic when there is a shot block opportunity.

    Yeah that was messed up.

Well good win. I knew the Warriors could turn it around because unlike the Hawks we've got closers that can play the 2nd half.

I know I've been bashing on Dunleavy because of his contract, but man, Pietrus played like a 9 mil/year guy tonight. He's a pt/min guy.

One thing I liked about Taft is he's got an NBA body and he provides intimidation and he's ready right now in terms of being the body type to play our center. He's got great hands and a good wingspan. He won't give up much space to Pachulia's crazy banging moves in the post. If you watch Foyle that guy can't play post defense for crap, he simply gives up way too much ground too early. But, it's too early to see what Taft is all about, but I do know he's got great potential, good hands, and he's a solid all around big man defender when he wants to be. He also is a calm defender. Doesn't freak out.

I love Biedrins, but the guy clearly ain't ready. He's too young and foul prone to be consistent.

I know I will be pissed if Dunleavy was playing like a bit of a role player like he was tonight. It was all about Pietrus making the shots at a good time. Dunleavy's timing when it comes to scoring just sucks, but he did all right in the 2nd. It's first game, he signed a big amount of money so he's trying to impress, but you know how some girls can be.

I think MVP of the game goes to Jrich. Talk about setting the tone even with a sore knee.

11 of 23 which is almost 50% shooting. 2 of 6 from downtown. 6 rebounds (2 offensive), 2 assists, only 2 turnovers, 1 steal, two blocks. If he does something similar in the Vince Carter department we're talking allstar team this year.

It's too bad Murphy had to sit, he was very efficient. 24 minutes he got 9 of 9 shooting, 9 boards, 19 points. If he shot perfect from the line or near perfect he's be in 20 point territory almost as productive as Pietrus in scoring points per minute. But Murphy was clearly not matching up with what Atlanta threw out there. Our weakside and transition D was exposed like crazy with Murph in the game and that's one thing a guy as slow as Mike Dunleavy Jr. will do as power forward (he'll play help defense, hustle some and be aware on the court). I liked what I saw from Fish. 4 of 5 shooting, 5 assists. Aaron Miles also made it so Fisher could be used as a scorer. I liked Miles a lot. And Taft seemed like a healthy and motivated, athletic Erick Dampier. Maybe his presence had something to do with how our defense and offense picked up. we put in Fish/Pietrus/Richardson/Dun at power forward/Taft at center and we went crazy for open break points and wide open shots.

Great 2nd half. I saw this as a must win and they got it done even though they struggled in the 1st half.

    Hopefully Baron is alright.

I drafted Pietrus as a bench player for my fantasy league, cause I had a feeling he'd break out and be a key in me getting pts. He shot 66.7% and got 20 pts. Not bad for a bench player in fantasy [IMG]

And man, anyone else get the feeling Taft will be cutting in Biedrins minutes? haha. I was super impressed by Miles and Taft. I especially loved the dime Miles gave Murphy for the slam and the slam Taft got on the fast break, his head got close to the rim!

Lol, who would imagine that Taft will come out from nowhere, especially when Biedrins had nice preseason and Foyle was healthy.

Murphy had perfect night, but he only played 24 mins, but we made the run without Murphy.

Davis and Richardson carry the team when we need them the most. Impressive outings.

Dunleavy was on the way to committ 40 TOs in first half. At least his second half was half way decent. Hope Davis' injury doesn't become season long nagging injury.

Pietrus was the most productive player who played 20 mins or less by far, and again, he dumped 20 pts in 24 mins.

Another euro Zarko also put 9 pts in 7 mins with only 1 TO.

Fisher played quite well, feilling Davis' absence.

I guess preseason really doesn't mean much...

According to that recap Baron had a mild hamstring pull, it seems like speculation but it also sounds like an accurate prediction.</div>

Am I the only one having trouble with Yahoo's sports page? I get an error.

People keep forgetting how good Biedrins was when he was out of foul trouble. I think his main problem is he's just raw in some areas and he's not physically ready so he has to reach in a lot instead of playing with his feet and body. Some people think he is ready, I don't think he is at all. But he'll be ready in a year or two or depending on how things go, possibly this year. I think he'll be awesome. I think Taft will be good as well.

Dammit, Mullin... Why is it the only way our asses got saved in the 2nd half without Baron Davis was Monty making the change to go small by including Jrich and Pietrus in the same lineup and making it so Dunleavy can be put in a position to take bigger players off the dribble? Dun just isn't great at small forward, he's a utility player that fills in the gaps. Hopefully Mullin is prepared to make it so Pietrus can stay and that Cohan is willing to pay for anyone that wants to stay despite our crappy team salary structure. Nobody is that rich to retain everybody we draft.

Heh, kinda reminds Dunleavy two years ago, when he was impressive as long as he doesn't play SF. Well, it's one game, so let's see what he does in SF position throughout the season. After all, he isn't going anywhere for a long time. Mullin's fate is closely tied up with Dunleavy's fate as well.

Impressive second half, putting up 75 pts while stopping Hawks by 40 pts.

It's good to hear that Davis' injury doesn't seem to be serious. But, hamstring injury usually go quite long. Hope it won't be that big of problem...

As long as they stay ~.500 until Baron comes back I'll be one cool customer.

The Hawks D in the paint is not real good,so once The W's really attacked-it was a done deal.

How many Flagrents have been laid on Mike Pete? Even Niner QB's don't take such a licken-and keep ticken..or even walking.

Best thing that could ever happen to Chris Taft-getting picked round 2. He didn't look apathetic or sluggish,or underskilled....in short didn't look like the bum playing for Pitt last season. Miles looks like a real PG. Shoulda been drafted...we get lucky on that too. Dunleavy and Murph gave a nice effort on D and that's a plus even if it was not always effective. Zaza, despite being named after a poodle, was a problem...especially when the refs let him get away with the textbook charge.

Basically we whacked a Not ready for the playoffs team, though they played better than I thought they could. Monty played the roster, showed no fear of playing rookies etc.,and that's good. Mike Pete made a good case for more minutes (again),Fish seemed to get the message that he's supposed to play POINT not just fire the 3...pretty good stuff even if the 1st half sucked like Hoover.
