Why the FUCK would monroe choose NY over Portland? The ONLY reason would be for the limelight.

Ps I'm assuming he's getting the max wherever he goes

Olshey might be a great guy, but I don't trust a single effing thing a GM says between the Finals and when contracts are signed in FA. Especially not one that doesn't like giving out info anyway and who doesn't want fans questioning his moves.

This is pretty accurate but it should also be expanded to include media. GMs and execs are lying left and right to try and gain any advantage and the best way to spread misinformation is through the media that is prone to overreacting and will blow up a vague tweet into a story about how a player is leaving as long as it gets clicks or radio play

Everyone saying Monroe is a lock to New York, it was reported yesterday (I know bleacher report) that he will meet with 4 or 5 teams.

I'd bet that Portland is one of them.

I'd bet that we are in for an extremely rough free agency if we can't even get a meeting with Greg Monroe.

This whole "blazers can't sign a FA" crap ends this summer. Nobody is even talking about the blazers right now unless it has to do with aldridge and that's just how olshey wants it. He bout to ball out.

His agent put that out there early in order to drum up interest in his client - it worked.

With rumors of David west and ny being interested in each other, and that they want to resign jason smith..... Maybe Monroe to ny isn't as clear cut as some think? Kristaps, west, smith, bargnani, Melo as some of their bigs.

I think Monroe to Portland is very Much a possibility. He seemed to want to play for uslast year, so I think his agent likes Olshey, and that they will try to get a deal done

Edit: looks like bargs might not be back with them.

Aside from interest, if he was max worthy, why didn't he get it last year?

Not sure I would commit max on him.

Another tidbit: Tellem and Falk are real close. I believe they formed an agency together at one point.

Five teams have shown serious interest — the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers. Monroe said he’ll meet with those teams this week.

“I’m looking to be with a team that’s ready to win,” said Monroe during a timeout at his youth basketball clinic Saturday morning at the Delgado Community College gymnasium. “Hopefully it will be a team where I’m the missing piece.”

Ok so who on that list of 5 is ready to win and he would be the missing piece?

Neil has is work cut out for himself. For every big FA he goes after, they have an equally attractive situation somewhere else or a bigger market with the same money. It is going to take a big time sales job which I think he is capable of...it may or not be enough.

I really don't see Monroe and Aldridge working together defensively, even if they might complement offensively. (But then again, everyone bitches about Aldridge working outside - do we want a player who practically forces him to?)

That suggests to me that Monroe is meant as an Aldridge replacement if LA leaves.

I don't think so because Portland wanted him last summer too. They probably think they can work together and aldridge probably approves of it.
