Saw brooks article today about where the rangers stand in terms of playoff competitive and his article is right in the money. We are quite a ways away at this point in competing in the playoffs and drury has his work cut out for him. Need to trade some of the dancers for some hard nosed take no prisoner types!

Colorado has gotten outworked and out physical in the last 4g of this series. Vegas didn't go away. Hopefully they can have a big 3rd or this is going to be an unwatchable semis and SCF.

Colorado's goaltending sucks and it showed up again.

Yes, I have no faith in Grubauer, despite being a Vezina finalist. Until that position gets solved Colorado will continue to come up short in big spots.

Now LV gets a bye into the SCF in 5 games (maybe 6 if Price steals an extra game), and TB/NYI battle it out on the other side.

Should be a LV/TB SCF, unless the NYI pull it out. Not likely, but they have a punchers chance IMO.

Terrible game from the Lightning. I would hope they would play better over the next few games.

Once again - Isles are a very good well coached team, and they play playoff style hockey. This is going to be a long series no matter which team wins. I'll stay with TB in 7.

With that said, no doubt TB can and will play better than they did in game one.

Isles are built for the playoffs. They pound and pound and pound the shit out of you mixed in with a couple of goals and great goaltending. Tampa better win game 2 or this will be a quick series.

It’s not biased dumbass it’s stating the facts. Last year the islanders were not making the playoffs if not for Covid. They stepped in shit. Senile lou’s Pageau trade was a disaster if not for the time off. They also stepped in shit when Boston lost two of their top four defenseman. The islanders defenseman are due for some injuries. The owners have been incredibly lucky the last two years most teams don’t go through the playoffs injury free like they have

It's a fact that the Isles would have missed the playoffs last season if it wasn't for Covid. It's a fact that the JGP trade was a disaster if not for the time off. It's a fact that the Isles are due for some injuries. You must have a different definition of the word fact...LOL.

The only facts I see are Lou has done a ton of winning in his career, with multiple SC's, and the Isles have made back to back SC semis. Those are facts, not opinions or trying to tell/predict the future like your comments are.

    Good times.

Lamoriello largely lives off past success, though. His last stanley cup is almost 20 years ago and didn't make the Leafs materially better. I think in his time in Toronto they lost in the first round every time they made it.

I think that is fair about Lou, no cups in a long time. But it certainly isn't easy to win cups. His time with the Leafs was subpar, but that is messy up there with him, Shanny, Dubas, and a team not built right for the playoffs (how much leeway did Lou have - not sure - but he deserves a little knock for his years up there agreed). And now in his time with the Isles he hired the best coach, has made some solid trade DL deals, and now has his team in back to back SC semis.

I am not a Lou fan, as most Rangers fans are not, but to say anything other than his career has been a big success isn't fair (I know you are not saying that - I am just saying it in general - Lou has had a hugely successful career like him or not).

Essentially he’s doing with the Rangers tried to do and dealing the first round picks every year to go for it. It’s very very rare to see a team go injury free during the playoffs and the islanders so far I have done that. I think Tampa was too cocky their first game it will be interesting to see game two

Yeah, I really don't understand this love for Lou. He destroyed the Devils by dealing first-rounders for many years. I mean yes, he won multiple cups in NJ, and of course he gets the credit for this great run but he also had the best goalie of all time. In comparison to Glen Sather, he wins, no doubt. After he went on to Toronto, did not succeed there, and now he is doing the same thing that he was doing in NJ and what we tried to do. He is giving away all of the 1st rounders.

We are now debating the career of Lou Lamoriello as a executive. The guy won 3 cups, his Devil teams were very good most years, he went to Toronto and turned a bad team into a good playoff team - and he didn't have all the control and leeway to do everything he wanted, now he goes to the Isles, a team that did nothing for YEARS AND YEARS, and he has them in back to back SC semis. Come on now. Don't like the guy, but are we really debating his career? He has been a very good executive for a very long time. That's the reality of it. He will be in the HOF some day.

Here is some scoop on his time with the Leafs:

On July 23, 2015, Lamoriello resigned from the New Jersey Devils to accept the general manager position with the Toronto Maple Leafs.[4] Lamoriello worked under Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan, who was the first player Lamoriello drafted as an NHL general manager in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. On April 30, 2018, Shanahan informed Lamoriello that he will no longer continue as general manager, but would remain with the organization as a special advisor. Shanahan stated that Lamoriello's contract called for him to serve as general manager for three years before making a transition to an advisory role.[14]

Much as he did in New Jersey, Lamoriello helped rebuild a previously moribund team. The Leafs had only made the playoffs once in ten years, but rebounded to make the playoffs in his last two seasons as general manager. To date, Lamoriello's stint in Toronto is the only time in his career as an NHL executive that he did not have the final say in hockey matters.

Hey if you win the cup this year than it was worth it. However people understand that he’s lucky. He would not of made the playoffs last year If not for Covid. I don’t think they beat Boston if they didn’t lose two of their top four defenseman. They have been incredibly healthy it can’t last

Agreed - I expect a 2-2 series back to TB, then it becomes a best of 3.

You can’t possibly be that stupid. Lou did absolutely nothing Toronto. All their impact draft picks were made before he got there. The Marner pick was made months in advance before the old fuck got there.
