Honestly, I can accept it if it happens. We have other options. Ultimately, I root for laundry, and Olshey runs a pretty good laundry service.
So, then, you basically expected Neil to retain all our FA's, draft RHJ, sign an MLE guy, not make any other changes, and figured that team would be a contender. Embrace change, dude.
I have not watched Aminu play all that often. But when I watched us play Dallas, I know that Aminu gave Aldridge a lot of trouble when Aminu was guarding him. I was very impressed with his defense and wanted him on our team. I think this is a good pick up and I think of Aminu as a poor man's Draymond Green.
You mean "stop caring about the team winning"? I guess I've done it before, I just didn't think I'd need to do it again so drastically.
I guess I don't see it other than the defense. But Draymond is only as valuable as he is because he can do everything. He's a very good passer and can hit the three. He's like Anthony Mason with a jump shot. Aminu can play defense, yes, but there's a reason he was limited to 18mpg while Draymond would play 48 mins a game if Kerr could get away with it.
The point is we still can add those all-around players and I am sure we will try. But adding Aminu has nothing to do with any of that. They are either coming to Portland this year or they are not, but we still need to fill out a roster. And with the cap going up to 90 million in the next couple of years, Aminu is a solid addition.
No, I mean, realize that the way the team was built last year isn't the ONLY way they can win, and look for the positives in the new roster and how it might be able to be successful.
Maybe you don't get what the term "poor man's" means? If he could do everything Draymond Green could do, he'd be looking for close to max deals and wouldn't be a "poor man's" Draymond.
It appears Aminu is similar to Bruce Bowen? Maybe Shane Battier? But not as good at shooting as either?
Aminu will play more PF than he will SG so I see Bowen/Battier comparisons as off. We have alot of youth at the 4 now.
Didn't Battier play SF? And given that we have Leonard/Vonleh/Plumlee/Kaman I think Aminu's primary position will be SF - after all, he's the ONLY SF we have!
Rasta... It continues to amaze me that somehow you believe that signing RESTRICTED FA's rather than UFA's would result in new players for us. I disagree based upon our history. I predict that ALL RFA's this year will sign or be matched by their current teams. This process also wastes valuable time. I will agree with you that they are more attractive players - but I don't see them wearing Black and Scarlet! Olshey is doing the best he can with limited funds and limited available players.
Battier did but he could also keep the defense honest with his shot and could play SG. No way Aminu does that. The season is still far away but do not see Aminu playing huge minutes at SF.
That's what I'm thinking too, but maybe even skew those percentages more towards SF. We've got some bigs to develop!
