?

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

trade doesn't work unless it's a draft now, complete in July because of Turner's one-time 35M salary. At the draft it's Portland sending out 45M and getting back 70M. Too big a differential. Need to wait for Turner's salary to drop. It's doable but 4 current draft picks exchanged in a draft that's 10 days before the trade happens is tricky. Might as well just ship that 29th pick to Chicago and get all of Portland's 1st's back (they'd probably be asses and demand the 23...typical Bullshit)

as the platypus said 3-->7 is a very steep decline. If it's just a 'simple' PDX/Ind trade I'd shoot for something like:

    #3 + Keon for #7 + #26 + 2024 Indiana 1st (top-10 protected) + Jordan Nwora

g-league seems to have a lot more transition than the NBA. Most of that difference between Dame and Scoot might be transition two's. In order to analyze those differentials in any meaningful way you'd need half-court stats

as for Dame's low assisted FG rate, I'd think it would go higher if he was playing with a good passing perimeter player in a motion-oriented offense. He hasn't played with one since Batum

I'll never forget talking to a coach who was at the PF for the infamous (if you've seen the video, you know what I'm talking about) pre draft KD workout 16 years ago about this time of June..... all he said to me was, "KD, WOW!"

Ran into a staff member who was there for Scoot's workout last week, totally different guy, he looked at me and said, "Scoot, WOW!"

Gives ya something to think about.

I think we'll really regret passing on him or trading him if we do. There's more than what meets the eye about him than what you see in his stats or highlights. He has an intangible "it" factor.

Would you draft Scoot knowing if might cause Dame to ask for a trade?

Definitely. But then again I don't think it would cause Dame to ask for a trade if we kept him. Not solely because of Scoot anyways.
Dame knows talent and he knows, and I assume, likes Scoot. Now they could still draft him and trade Scoot, but I still think they can play together. (along with Sharpe)

100% agree. Hcp has some inside vibes though. Love to hear his opinion.

    O'Connor:

"My league sources say that Portland’s interest in building around Lillard is genuine. The front office is exploring deals for the no. 3 pick, and it’s also open to moving Anfernee Simons. Jaylen Brown, Pascal Siakam, or Mikal Bridges would make sense as potential targets via trade, but it’s unclear what level of appetite the Blazers have for that kind of trade. Come draft night, they might just pick."

well now, that narrows it down and adds a bunch of new info, huh?

how much does O'Conner get paid for that kind of insight?

Moves are always full of risk. But if you don't take any, you'll never know if they would have succeeded.

Nothing new from KOC here, but this makes total sense. The Blazers want to make a deal if it's within reason to do so to support a team around Dame, but aren't going to make a deal at all costs. There is a lot of catastrophizing going on in the Blazers fanbase right now (both directions), and I know with rumors swirling and the fact that we've been in this liminal state (at least) since the draft lottery nearly a month ago. But we all need to take a deep breath, and let the situation play itself out.

Let's just entertain ourselves, toss around and appropriately debate some ideas, but it seems like so many fans are getting preemptively angry when nothing has happened.

It's basically the same thing Haynes did. Dame is a hot topic right now so all these guys are just rehashing old news and trying to spin it as something new.

Yeh, but was Kevin Pritchard there to say "This guy is an assassin" as he did about KD?

He'd be a huuuuuge boost to our bench. Something we've been sorely missing for years during the dame era. Always have potent starting lineups but then our bench just blows.

I was aware he said the finals.

Your assumption that Denver's 15 piont victory in Game 3 wouldn't have happend without Braun's +/- of +2 in 19 minutes, is just that, an assumption. But yes, he had a nice game and his 7/2/2 NBA Finals averages has been a bonus for Denver. I'm not ready to put much weight on his value to Denver's championship run.

I’m gonna be sad if we trade Simons and 3 for Siakam. Then pay 40 mil for Siakam per year on a deal that runs till he is 34 and roll out a big 3 of dame Siakam and grant, making it to the 2nd round and never further.

Sorry if I missed this, but let us pretend that Brown and or Siakam say they would re-sign if we traded for one of them.....when is the earliest that can happen?

for extensions it would be 6 months after the trade before an agreement could be made
