?

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

    They could.

This is also rare. Teams get their guy on the podium, they hold up the jersey, they head to Summer League camp and meet the guys...

Andrew Wiggins played summer league for Cleveland amidst all the rumors, and was traded for Kevin Love a month after. It happens... But rarely.

Yeah I could see this depending how Miller/Scoot play. Sharpe is worth more than 7 was during the draft.

Jaynes became irrelevant when he claimed CJ was the one to keep, not Dame. And honestly probably much earlier than that.

Because Chicago fans have seen all the horrible decisions their team has made and are hoping some other teams makes a terrible mistake too.

Added benefit of using their 7.4 mil contract to make money work in a trade

Jaynes was always an idiot but he became insufferable when the Blazers fired Rick Adelman

Interesting how he talks about how he decides when to (or not to) report information. He talks to a variety of sources at different levels first.

Also reiterates he thinks Miller goes 2 and that MOST teams would draft Miller at 2 if they could get there.

Another interesting note: Apparently OKC offered a TON of picks to Cleveland to draft Evan Mobley and they said no.

Apparently not going to be leaking picks anymore.

Was hoping to hear what he thought Portland would do if it was Miller available and not Scoot.

He does specifically mention that the new CBA is going to have a *significant* impact on trades and trade value.

In particular he mentions that “Durant and Gobert like hauls” won’t happen anymore because your ability to build a team if you have a player making a number that starts with a “4 or 5” is pretty much fucked (my words on that part).

Would Charlotte have any interest in Zach?
I could see how they could view him as a nice fit.

yeah, I wasn't really thinking about sometime this summer. I was thinking along the lines of the trade deadline or the next draft or the next off-season

Portland would also get the chance to see how good the player actually is and have a much better gauge of his upside

The Blazers have to say they are comfortable selecting at 3 cause I am guessing teams are low balling the Blazers or at least giving deals that are not worth moving out of that slot. This might be the first smart thing Cronin has done as the GM but only time will tell if the Blazers really are comfortable taking Scoot or whoever at 3 or playing hardball and hoping the offers get better. I guess we all will know the truth soon but the wait is draining as a fan and at this point want something to be done so we have an idea what the plan might be going forward.

It might be that we were expecting to have Scoot at three and most of the trades that are being rumored would appear to hinge on Scoot being available.

Marks, Lowe and Givony talk in depth about Blazers.

    - If Draft happened today, Blazers would pick Scoot or Miller.
    - They value that pick super highly - and the offers just aren't there at the moment.
    - Dame is smart and knows value of the pick. He's not going to storm into the office the moment they make the pick and demand a trade.
    - To the teams turning their nose at Simons/3 for <insert star wing> - Lowe things a lot of this is posturing. That pick has way more value than a pick in another year. Simons is being undervalued.
    - Every team would rather have Sharpe than Simons right now. Sharpe is as close to untouchable as possible.

    - New Orleans has no interest in trading Zion or Ingram.

I think this and what Woj is reporting is just a whole lot of smoke. I don't know if everything being reported is just posturing or just the majority of it but for sure most of this is just smoke screens and posturing. I still think we'll make a deal on draft night with the third pick going somewhere else. I think teams will start making better offers as the draft gets closer and then once we're on the clock they'll start bidding against each other. Or maybe I'm wrong and Joe is planning on drafting and keeping either Scoot or Miller.

Also: Scoot was more impressive than Miller in Charlotte's workouts.

Miller would still be 2 as of today, but Charlotte seriously considering Scoot.

Scoot is a physical specimen. Dude reminds me a lot of Russ. He's just built. He looks like he could really impose his will on people.
