We got the #3 pick. Discuss the possibilities.

Discussion in 'Portland Trail Blazers' started by Strenuus, May 16, 2023.

?

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

Mike Dunleavy Jr. will hook Dray up. So Dray doesn't sucker punch anymore guys who come off of the bench.

Then play Grant at SF, where the Blazers have no one of note and he plays equally well. Versatility is one of Jerami's best qualities

Dame has supposedly been recruiting. He and Dame are buds. Maybe a sign and trade?

I feel like a kid again waiting for Christmas 6 days away. Do I get the bike I’ve begging for or do I end up with the fake NBA basketball and used Nike shoes.

He's not much of a scorer, which gets undue weight in such things, so you might be right in your hypothetical. But in reality land he's a proven winner with 4 championships, so he's going to the Hall.

Think they want to take Nurk or Ant back in salary? I don't. I'd be completely shocked if they worked something out

We were already great offensively, Markkanen does nothing to address actual needs.

I have a feeling if Cronin/Schmitz really like Miller/Amen/Scoot/whoever at 3, they will only make a trade if the other team/s clearly overpay us, making a trade impossible so no trade happens, explain to Dame the best decision is to keep the pick.

I agree. Portland has plenty of scorers but not enough D, rebounding and secondary playmakers... which is part of the reasoning of why I like Walker and Ausar for them & am not so enamored with Miller. I was only objecting to the pigeon holing of Grant as strictly a 4 that you gave

We had the 18th best offensive team out of 30.
We had I believe the 3rd worse rebounding team of 30.

People make petitions to get the franchise player out of town, and we asked why would anyone ever do that.

Imagine just wanting more offense and no defense after whatever the hell we watched the last two years. And then saying "let's mortgage the future for that".

Then saying "how can you not like that" and being serious.

I thought we were top 5 in offense most of the season? I'd like to see those numbers before Dame sat.

Scoot Henderson & Brandon Miller Still Expected to Meet with Outgoing Owner Michael Jordan. Both are due in Charlotte on Monday.

    Can someone explain why?

This is definitely the narrative being pushed in the media right now which means it's the narrative our front office is putting out there. If it's the truth why would they make it known, they would just go about their business without leaking anything. It's an obvious attempt to drive up the trade value of the pick. Before all of these teams started smoke screens and whatnot everyone was under the impression that our team's plan was to trade this pick which allows other teams to low ball us, we put this out there and teams have to come with their best offer.

I think once we are on the clock this bullshit narrative goes away and the teams that want whoever is available at three start bidding against each other. I don't know if that will be enough for Joe because he has done nothing besides pick up Jeremi that implies that he's interested in anything but a youth rebuild but if he's been real with Dame a team will make a fair offer to put this team in a much better position to win right now and we will take it.

The guys that bought MJ out were his co-owners/partners. It was reported that they wanted MJ to stay on as the head of operations until after the draft, so either they were honoring his wishes or he is honoring theirs.

Utility Sports says we prefer Amen to Brandon Miller.

Also that Charlotte will take Scoot over Miller.

Is this supposed to read "prefer" rather than "other" and also Utility Sports doesn't get a lot right. It's supposed to be analysis and I didn't know the people there even claimed to have connections in NBA front offices.
