?

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

When there's no deals to make you stock assets.
I came to this conclusion that there's really no pressure to do anything right now. We're not getting Giannis or Luka to play with Dame, everything is fine.

That’s insulting. I know that Dame can’t be traded until July and he apparently does not.

I think that the gods were smiling down on us when they gave us pick #3 this year. think about it. In 1984 we had the #2 pick and we blew it. In 2007 we had the #1 pick and we blew it. So this year we have #3. The top 2 picks will be off the board so the one that's left has got to be the right pick - - - Right? Just please do not blow it by trading the pick for some injury prone big man with great potential that will end up like another Sam Bowie or Greg Oden. Please god, please!!!! Amen

I was referring to the fact that he is using Dame's own words.

But I'm sure they could probably start agreeing in principle to a trade that executes on July 10th or something of that nature.

Or at the very least, start laying the groundwork.

Windy is really pushing this. Dame can't be traded for a minute, but I'm sure we would get reports of the framework of a deal if it was offered.

    Can’t they agree in principle?

Every windbag basketball commentator has a real Jones to see Dame traded. F them all. I hope Cronin pulls off some magic tonight and these “experts” are left with massive amounts of egg on their faces.

Literally yesterday, talking heads were saying Dame would not immediately request a trade on Thursday night if we make a pick to keep. And that he would weigh his options and if it came to that, he would request a trade later in the yr or at the deadline.

Narrative changes when they get in front of ESPN cameras.

Good to see the Blazers bucking up here. Let it be known we aren't giving into any shitty trades.

I have pretty much put Windhorst on ignore -- cause all he is doing is repeating what we already know or suspect but nothing concrete. There are facts that cannot be white washed and that is only one team that might be on Dame's list that could make a legit offer and that is the Net's. Almost every other team does not have enough assets to make it worth it for the Blazers to trade Dame since I also think the Blazers want to send him out east too. Also I think what has made the whole trade Dame worse is EVERY National Media member except maybe Haynes wants Dame out of Portland and will twist things to fit that narrative.

I am just done with this part of it until Dame comes out and says my time is up in Portland please trade me until that I am trying my best to ignore the media on that front and basically tell them to BEEP off too --- LOL

To be fair, if you watch it, Windy doesn’t say Dame will immediately request out and he doesn’t even say it would be Dame’s doing. He said something like they’d probably have a conversation in the next 48-72 hours following the draft BUT teams would start calling immediately.

This is absolutely a Chess game. Portland is not going to cave. How bad does another team covet our pick? What other moves can we make? A lot is going to happen today and over the next two weeks.

It's nonsense. The market for Dame is like 2 teams. And we have no real reason to trade him for 50 cents on the dollar outside of his crying to Haynes. Dame signed a 5 yr supermax. He has no legs to stand on really in demanding a trade after preaching loyalty for a decade.

Frankly this is the time where I wish we had a bit of a prick as a GM who would say, “even if he did request a trade, he’s under contract for multiple years. We aren’t trading him even if that’s what he wants.”

I’ve beat this horse to death but I agree with you. I think I was one of the only people to say if he requested a trade I’d tell him “too bad”

I hope Cronin has a backbone if it comes to that. Unfortunately i dont think he does.

Dame knew what he was getting into with this ownership when he signed that extension in vegas during SL. He has been with Jody for 5yrs now. They made the massive financial committment to him and he obliged. And suddenly all that is forgotten?
