I’d like to make some trades, but Cronin’s track record scares me and I don’t want to settle for pennies on the dollar so I’d rather stay status quo.

Mods, how long is the ban for failing into one of these shitty accounts? I would say 6 weeks.

Sean parroting this take means we're definitely going the two timelines route lol.

That's also an awful double negative from Sean when trying to make a point

100% this. Bridges hasn't done anything except be a role playing starter on a team that made it to the Finals once and he's been in the league long enough that if he was going to be a superstar we would have had a lot more evidence of it by now. So treating him like one or even valuing him like an all nba caliber player is too much.

Yeah--apparently the word "fail" escaped him. Ironic.

Any combination of players' ages can work if you have the "right" guys but finding guys that are 19 or even older but still just a year out of highschool who are ready to contribute meaningfully to winning a lot more games than you did the season before just isn't very realistic. The fact is that the value in prospects is their potential and that potential is very rarely immediately realized or even realized in the first couple of seasons.

It's even harder to understand how the two timeline thing works with us if we are drafting players like Scoot who are seemingly not going to be synergistic with the guys we already have and are supposedly committed to keeping. Should be interesting to see how tonight goes and then how what we do this off season translates onto the court. That's assuming that Dame is still on the team next time we get to watch a game that counts.

On the Bridges and Net's over valuing him all I got to say is -- DUH

They act like he is a Top 20 type player and in reality he is more of a Top 40 ish player but that's why the Nets are the Nets and why they are in this mess also with the contract of the worthless Ben Simmons -- ROFL

He is going to decide what he is going to do? He's under contract for three more years and will make nearly $46 million next season. This fact should be added to all of these stories.

The formula Trader Bob had was I thought a reasonable one. He aimed for five true vets, five guys in their prime, and five youngsters learning the ropes (usually three of them were in street clothes). Obviously, it was only aspirational, but a good overall blend to have.

Why do you and others continue to act like the last twenty years of basketball haven't happened. Superstars have been able to dictate when they stay or go (regardless of their contract situation) for quite a while now. So yeah, Dame will decide if he is on this team or not. If any front office in the league tries to hold a superstar on their roster against that superstar's will they'll be doing a lot of damage to their ability to negotiate with players and agents in the future.

Like it or not the precedent was set a long time ago. Personally I like it. I think if you play at a certain level you should be able to dictate not exactly where you play but definitely if you are going to stay on your current team or not.

Could you imagine after all of the loyalty that Dame has shown this organization and the model of integrity that he has been, the shitstorm from the media and other star players around the league if it was ever public knowledge that Dame had requested a trade and our front office denied him and told him he'd have to play out his contract. We would get slammed so badly and Cronin's career would be over, no one could hire that guy because every superstar or guy who thinks they're a superstar would refuse to play on a team where Cronin had any say.

Sadly my time was long before the clickbait era.

No twitter. No facebook. No Myspace. No Reddit.

The only news I broke while I was a writer was Richie Frahm signing a deal, the Blazers pulling their advertising from the Oregonian in response to all the negative press, and I stole the breaking news that Quick was reporting about Sheed being traded to the Hawks because we were both at Tony Romas and I called the owner of Hoopsworld to get the trade up on our site before anyone else had it reported online.

The only REAL scoop that I ever broke was after I stopped writing. That was the Greg Oden 24 Hour Fitness story...... because I was there. I played pickup ball with Oden. I didn't even really think the story would be that big.
