?

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

I agree..... but people keep bringing it up as a reason to keep Dame.

    Toss in whatever picks needed?

    Dame/Sharpe/Bridges/Grant/Ayton

Need bench help! but this could be a contending starting 5 no?

It seems to me that it’s not just a matter of a player’s recruiting prowess. There are way too many factors beyond his control. It’s recruiting prowess + necessary team cap space or exception + player availability + or - team/city attractiveness. Probably need to add a factor for management astuteness or lack thereof. Olshey scored big negatives on that index.

    oh...ok

yeah that's a dumb reason, especially with the CBA and the Vulcans around.

But you have used the argument that it will take 6, 7, 8 years for a youth movement to basically have the experience to compete. If we try and fail over a four year period to get Dame his title with vets via trading the picks/players, then have to finally wait for the new youngsters to become competitive, that is 10-12 years, putting Sharpe exactly in Dames shoes currently. I can do math. The plan is crippling for a decade. That is all. I'm not a decision maker for the organization an as a fan for 50+ years, I've shook my head at plenty. Im sure I will be doing a lot of head shaking this summer.

would you sign a petition to demand the office trade him? If not then you're not included in my rant Tpup.....you're welcome to your view though...just don't take it personally ...speculating is one thing...wanting a player gone is another. Haters are people who don't value Dame in Portland and want him gone. I don't get the impression you're in that camp

A forgotten art form. I was called a hater by some sparky the other day. That is when you know what you are dealing with. Some keyboard cowboys still haven't learned that it is sometimes a good thing to put down the mouse and step away from the keyboard.

I'm searching for a quote from Cronin from last years draft, when he said something like "the offer for the 7th pick would have to blow us away to consider trading it" or something like that. If anyone can find it that would be cool

Have to admit I love the hot takes on all sides for such a nuanced issue. I know we can't all just say "it depends", but really, the right move is: "it depends".

I think, barring some godfather offer or him asking for it, trading Dame is off the table and simply just not realistic.

If you're trading 3 to go all-in, I think you're looking to upgrade Ant, Nurk and the bench.

If trading 3 (very likely a series of moves) doesn't/can't accomplish most/all of those, then you keep the pick and deal with Dame and his feelings about it as needed -- you can't afford to shoot your shot and fall short.

    found it:

“As the process went on, (we) became more and more enamored with pick seven where in my trade discussions, most of them became ‘You’ve got to wow us to have us even think about moving this pick. And it ended up that nobody wowed us.”

So can raising kids in Portland after growing up in Oakland...what I really like about it is he's invested his millions in Oregon...and generated a whole economic support system for his family here as well.

Simons + Nurkic for KAT works on the trade checker. Might have to trade #23 pick as well. Then draft Brandon Miller.

    Dame
    Sharpe
    Miller
    Grant
    KAT

I'd much prefer something like this over giving up #3 and Ant for Siakam.

I'm not sure it will work, or that KAT is a winning player. But the team still has Sharpe and Miller if it doesn't work and could flip the others for assets. Gives Dame an All-NBA player to try and win now but keeps young assets and flexibility with the franchise.

Minnesota would have Ant and Ant.

I just listened to a Wolves channel where their guys were talking about Ant + #3 + filler for KAT + Prince. So I think anything short of the #3 gets rejected by the Wolves. I'm not giving up #3 for KAT's contract. The best ability is availability.

Anyone here who wants Ayton hasn't had a basketball convo with a Suns fan.
