?

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

Sharpe has proven he's ready to contribute. There is no reason to move him.

We wouldn't have to move Ant if he weren't duplication of Dame.

This is the biggest truth and why I advocate for trading him at this point. Great talent, not easy to build around due to his need of always having the ball. It kills the break and it kills the half court offense. Always has and always will. Time for a change even if it means a step back in star power.

I was watching the Kings and they move the ball so much better than we do. I love Dame, but he's an iso point guard. He would have to change his game for us to really evolve.

Sharpe showed he could go to the next level without the likes of Lillard and and Ant on the floor. Playing the role of 3rd seat is much different and I don't know at his age and lack of experience that he is ready for that on a championship team. Add to the fact they want to add proven guys for a win-now season, who else on this roster will acquire that? Anyone who thinks Ant and/or Nurk will get back a difference maker is not seeing clearly. Grant sign-and-trade could bring back a Grant type player. Sharpe is the clear cut guy to improve immediate talent, but it will come at the cost of long term talent when he peaks for another team.

Exactly and I don't see that happening. He is a team guy to a certain point. He didn't take less to help nor did he have to. He won't give up the ball to win. It just isn't in his DNA. He could win a championship in the perfect setting, but for the life of me I don't see how Portland can build that. They don't have the salary, the assets, or the vision.

Just saw a rumor about Lavine and Williams to Portland for #3. I think it would have to be Nurk, Ant #3 for Lavine and Williams. I know Lavine doesn't help the defense, but would be a decent 3 guard rotation with Dame, Lavine and Sharpe. Not sure if that is enough value for Ant Nurk and #3. Maybe next years pick returned to the blazers?

Not sure how reliable Clutch sports is?

I hate the idea of KAT. He's not moving any needle. He hasn't moved it in Minny and wouldn't move it in Portland

my thinking is, after looking at his contract(s), there's no way the Vulcans would approve any trade than brings in KAT

a real "rumor"? or just some guy speculating?

Ant+Nurk+3 for LaVine and Willams is a Bulls' fan wet dream

Are Lavine and Ant really that much different?
Lavine is much better, but they are essentially the same player.

This is an extremely easy no...

He's not even worth Ant + filler. KAT sucks.

Sorry that 2nd trade is absolute garbage. Simmons is one of the worst players in the entire league.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I was saying that since Siakam gets a lot more rebounds than Bridges, it would be better to pair Siakam with a weak rebounder like Grant.

The Blazers need to avoid an epic disaster, and if Scoot is available , draft him.
If he turns out to be highly talented and add a couple extra dimensions to the Blazer offense (passing such as lobs that we rarely see, full-court pressure on the hoop) , they at least know what they're trading away if they decide to make a trade.
I think it's unlikely that Scoot will lose value, that his value will either be the same, or increase.
Also, he'll be under contract , so that amount would be included in a trade.

disaster can take a lot of forms

like, for instance, trading away the best player in team history because of anticipating Scoot was the 2nd coming...only to find out he was the 2nd coming of Telfaire or Jerryd Bayless

Well I guess if you want to throw away the future to lose in the first round maybe you consider it.

No way that's a HCA or contending team.

    Saying this for years
Blazers fans are so against picking at 3 that we're willing to trade it for another Jeremi Grant-level player and actually talking about how we have to move more along with the pick to get them.

We're literally undervaluing our own asset and rationalizing why it's not worth more, and, thereby driving down what we could get for the pick.

That's awful business. You don't tell the public you're in trouble and you're going to get rid of the pick. It's like having a brand new sports car and putting it out there that it's going to be on sale so don't pay the premium price now.

At the very least, the Blazers and their fans should hype the pick and leave the possibility open that we'll use it if we don't get a deal worth that asset. The market determines the value, not what the pick is worth to the Blazers themselves. Let it.

Lavine and Williams aren't worth that pick, especially if we're actually giving up more to sweeten the pot. Anunoby is not worth that pick. Randle is not worth that pick.

You'd think we'd have learned from the trades at the end of the Olshey administration, but I guess we haven't.

Remind me again how ludicrously huge KAT's contract is? We can't build a contender spending half our cap on that underwhelming money pit.
