We got the #3 pick. Discuss the possibilities.

?

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

Talks were ongoing until just before we picked, while we were on the clock to make a selection. When Sharpe was still available, we decided to select him instead of giving 7 plus whatever else Toronto wants in addition, for OG.

Dame is mad then. He isn't mad now, based on how highly he talked about Shaedon

Brooklyn or NY have the picks to do it. Houston if they sign Harden. Only takes one team.

If your only looking at players and no picks obviously many less or even no teams.

Yes, thought that was pretty clear “Dame was not thrilled that night … Dame would’ve preferred if they traded the pick for OG”. Seems pretty clear it was about last years pick, since the draft hasn’t happened this year.

But what I thought was interesting was how Dame was skeptical of Sharpe since he wanted OG.

Also, it makes me even more sure that if we keep this years pick Dame is gonna lose his mind.

Guess multiple people have made the same mistake; my apologies. I’ll edit the post.

The caption is clear, but the thumbnail has big bold letters saying (Trade the 3rd pick?) They know what they're doing

I looked at the highlights of Miller on offense & defense. The stats are fantastic. Shooting percentages are very good. I really like the fact he's an 85 % free throw shooter in college, rare. If the workouts and interviews go well, he may very well be the guy. Dame ain't stupid. He wants to play with the best . This kid's skillset bodes well to be a factor right away. The off court situation isn't an issue, unless it becomes an issue after further investigation. It looks good right now, but that could change , and is worrisome. I'm sure if the Blazers become enamored with him, they , if not already done, some serious vetting on this. He doesn't have a compact shooting motion, but it wasn't a problem in college. I kept watching how he holds the ball out in that motion as he's going up. But he get it off in traffic. And it's pure. He doesn't seem that tall, but his long arms and great timing help him block shots.

Stop dealing with Toronto. Masai is not dealing OG/Siakam for anything less than a highway robbery. Those two are never getting traded until Masai is gone. Just like CJ wasn't traded until Olshey was gone.

so that was from Wednesday and Thursday..?

IMO, it's a little chickenshit that Scoot and Miller didn't participate. I suppose they'll be measured by each team they workout for

    * Taylor Hendricks had good length
    * Jarace Walker was just 6'6.5 but had a 7'2.5 wingspan and was 249 pounds
    * Cam Whtmore the same height and standing reach of the Thompsons, but a shorter wingspan; and about 20 pounds heavier

"While the top prospects in this year's class like Paolo Banchero, Chet Holmgren, Jabari Smith Jr., Jaden Ivey and Shaedon Sharpe did not participate in the combine – which has become the norm over recent years – it left an opening for under-the-radar players to shine on this stage."

    Sharpe participated

    upload_2023-5-20_15-18-55.png

doesn't change my opinion that not participating is a little chickenshit. I know it's agent driven, but still...

as for top prospects this season; Wemby gets a pass. If I use this mock draft:

    https://nbadraftroom.com/p/2023-nba-mock-draft/

of the top 20 prospects after Wemby, the only 3 that didn't participate were Scoot, Miller, and Keyonte George

...and then you name a bunch of players currently in the league, who IYO don't cut it. Fine, however if I'm Joe moving Dame (which I truly don't think is happening this offseason), I want my value back to come primarily in draft capitol so I can build my vision around the young guys who obviously need time too.

    fingers crossed

Portland isn't winning a title next year. Anyone on board with this team should be focused on a couple years out at a minimum.

He halfway participated allowing himself to be measured but opting out of all the athletic tests so... medium sized chickenshit?

I love Dame, but use of this asset cannot be dictated by what he and he alone wants.

so, last season Dame wanted the pick traded but Portland could find an equitable trade so they kept the pick, used it, and Dame became ok with it...and maybe wasn't as opposed, at the time, as suggested in that interview

in other words, Dame's perspective can evolve according to situation

If we trade for Embiid, we can win next year. Embiid/Dame vs Jokic/Murray would be an epic WCF.
