?

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

    So part 1 of this trade would be agreed at the draft - Simons and #3 for Jaylen Brown, but as normally happens it won't be executed until July in case more is added. Then Blazers give #23 to Chicago with as many seconds needed for them to give us back 2024 protected pick. Harden agrees to go to Houston at the start of free agency. Then all these teams agree to structure the trade as this;

    Celtics: Simons, Ayton, #3
76ers: Sharpe, Watford, Jabari Walker, salary filler (Muscala, Knox, Keon) Four first round picks (2024 2026 2028 2030) from the Blazer all unprotected
Suns: Nurkic, Robert Williams, Nassir Little
    Blazers: Embiid, Jaylen Brown

6ers would also free up an additional $27.7 million in cap space - so in addition to Harden leaving, Shape, Four 1st, they can gain assets with cap space
Celts add $9.6 million salary and Blazers add $15.8 million

Makes a lot of sense for all these teams. Blazers still have unprotected swaps available to give out in 2025, 2027, 2029 if you feel any of above teams need additional assets to complete these trades.

    Blazers roster;

    Dame
    Brown
    Grant
    Embiid

Cronin would have a ton of work to add a 5th starter and fill out the bench. But this is likely the best 3/4 player core in the league next year.

But he's like a fine wine. There's plenty of time after he retires to go all young. Sharpe will still be young. Very Young (25 -26) , a potential decade more of top play. Of course Sharpe needs to develop to that Kobe-esqe level 1st.

Agreed, Miller would make more sense just running back the current Blazers roster as is with an MLE signing. Scoot doesn't make much sense to pair with a DameAnt lead team.

You really went after it. Pretty damn cool. But that's a lot of players to the Sixers. Can they fit that in? Not so sure. You can't just drop them like in Football.

    Thanks.

Yes 76ers can drop them and there's no limit to how many they can acquire in the offseason. They would have a ton of cap space, so I think they'd be fine eating a couple of those salary filler expiring contracts. Would be a bit like the Blazers acquiring Pippen from the Rockets back in the day. Watford or Walker could be routed to the Suns instead as they are rumored to be very interested in depth with an Ayton trade.

Scoot makes just as much sense as Brandon Miller to me.
The Blazers already have a Brandon Miller. Jerami Grant.
Scoot is a mid-range shooter who pushes the pace and passes the ball extremely well. There is nobody similar to Scoot on the Blazer roster.
Scoot would solve the problem of lack of full-court play and ball movement in the half-court offense.
Scoot would also be able to unlock the full potential of Shaedon Sharpe. Watford will never be a starter, and Dame and Ant are either unable or not interested in throwing the ball in the air for Sharpe.

    Nurk/Knox/picks to Indy
    Turner/Little to Phoenix
    Ayton to Portland.

    Dame
    Sharpe

Disagree. Grant is smaller and Miller is supposed to be a decent passer. He was also a VERY good three point shooter in college.

We need as many tall athletic, and lengthy players as possible. Ones that can hit the three especially.

No one knows what kind of facilitator Scoot will be. Unlock the full potential of Sharpe? Not likely being a mediocre shooter. NBA players are gonna force Scoot to shoot outside. His dunks are coming against G League talent. NBA players aren't going to just let him drive with the ease he does in the G League.

Scoot's game is a lot like Jaden Ivey's. Ivey's stats were good last season. Not Dame (rookie season ) good, but good. I don't see Scoot just coming in and dominating right away. We all know Dame is awesome. Scoot's game success in the NBA is purely speculative.

Ivey just really isn't a point guard. He's a scoring combo guard, and he's not a very good one.

Ivey shot 41.6% from the floor and 34% from three. He averaged over 3 turnovers per game as a shooting guard with 5 assists. That's..... not good.

He's also not the athlete that Scoot is.

When he came in last year, he surely was considered uber athletic. Watching hightlights, the only difference i'm seeing between the two is Scoot is slightly quicker.

It annoys the hell out of me that neither one of them did the pre-draft measurements. I'm glad the NBA is making that a requirement moving forward.

Scott shot 43% from the floor, and 28% from 3. Scoot had a higher turnover % than Ivey. Scoot put up a 98 ORtg, and a 122 DRtg. He had a negative WS/48.
He got to the line less than 3 times per game. For someone that isn't a 3 point threat, he also doesn't appear to be a threat to get to the line.

    All of that...not good.

And Jaden was being compared to Ja Morant coming out of college. He's a hell of an athlete.
