We got the #3 pick. Discuss the possibilities.

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

Is that why Miller started showing up in mock drafts in January & February?
Because everyone KNEW that Charlotte was going to be picking #2 4 months ahead of time?

For everyone talking about Brandon Miller's value... his legal stuff doesn't seem like it's going to cost him. So what we are left with is the guy's game and it is fucking great. If I were in the trade Dame camp I would want to draft Miller to put with Ant and Shae. I think it's still a three player draft (an obvious 1, a 2a and 2b followed by a lot of other guys). I do think the valuation on Scoot v Miller is very close. So I think we will either get a lot of value for that pick or use it and see what happens with Dame.

If the Hornets take him which I think is a very real possibility then we will either have to trade Scoot or both Dame and Ant.

Whispers that Charlotte will move back in the draft to 4

Portland has had some underwhelming offers for both 3 and our other assets…including Dame

Portland DOES NOT want to use the pick, and teams know it

In talks with Chicago to remove future pick obligations. No idea how it’s going

Toronto asking for pick + for Siakam. OG hasn’t been talked about

Blazers have reached out to Brooklyn, but thus far have been turned down

Sharpe has so far been a non starter in talks

Given Smith and Eason in last year's draft, I have to assume that if Houston moves up to 2, it's for Scoot.

Lillard also wanted to play his whole career for Stotts, thought Neil was a great GM, loved playing with CJ, wanted his cousin on the roster, and said similar statements last year at #7 plus the year prior at the Olympics.

Blazers need to make the best choice for the franchise at #3 and let Dame make up his own mind if he still wants to stay or go.

Teams that draft Miller at #2, #3 or elsewhere in the lottery need to be comfortable with his lack of involvement in the murder, and possible civil case.

That doesn't mean we will hear any of those details. It can be private conversations with NBA teams and Miller representatives. So we might not hear any reports or updates.

Amen is the flash because he plays PG, but Ausar seems to have the much more developed skills. Much better shooter, better defender, even averaged more assists. Ausar is the one who was the 2x MVP and although he hasn't played PG like his brother, he is not without playmaking ability. Amen is the slightly more explosive athlete, but Ausar is certainly no slouch.

So when you say "pick+" .......what does the + mean?
That could mean a lot of things. Pick + matching salaries? Or the pic, a shitload of additional picks and matching salaries.

Matching salaries could be Ant and Nurk or Ant, Little, and Keon
At first glance that is a lot, but it also removes some bad contracts. I am not giving them any additional picks other than #3 but I would consider the other options if Siakam agrees to an extension. But then again I love his game:

Arguably their best player last season was 22 year old PG Kevin Porter who took major strides forward. I doubt replacing him is high on their to do list but maybe they view Scoot as a significant enough upgrade to warrant it. If I'm them though, I probably stand pat and select a Thompson or Black and let my very young roster gain more experience together.

that's assuming he's actually 6'2 since he didn't do the combine

hard to justify drafting Scoot with both Dame & Ant on the roster. But then I think it's become harder and harder to justify Ant on the roster, not at 26M/year for a defensive sieve

Bulls don't have anything of equitable value to trade for the 3rd pick. They don't have a unencumbered 1st till 2029. Patrick Williams is young and promising but so far he's very one-dimensional. They could give back Portland's 1st round obligations but that's not a lot of generic value. They have nothing else anywhere close to the value needed

    He doesn't make 26M/year.
