It still amazes me how we dominate the league with our point guard situation. Thank you Triangle in that aspect.
Glancing over the rumor mill these guards are rumored to be on the trade block. Tyrone Lue Earl Watson Ramon Sessions Larry Hughes Stephon Marbury Raymond Felton Mike Conley Players the Lakers have considered bringing in are Dan Dickau, Eddie Gill, and Blake Ahearn. The Lakers have also inquired about Pargo, but he's still under contract with Dynamo Moscow. Shaun Livingston is expected to re-sign with the Heat so we can count him out. I'm sure we'll hear Coby Karl's name come up because of his Triangle experience, but he's not what this team needs. A player I wouldn't mind going after is DeMarcus Nelson, recently waived by the Warriors. 1. He's an intelligent player 2. He's a damn good on the ball defender 3. Has good size at 6'4 & 200lbs and athletic The downside Nelson has limited experience in the league.
Dickau? He's not any better than Sun Gill? Ahearn (who?). No. If I want to make a change, but nothing drastic, just do a Mihm for Lue swap. I thought it was on the table a while ago. Mihm isn't even playing for us anyways, Bucks get another big, Lakers get a solid defender (better than Fish or Farmar at least) who has triangle experience. If not then just sign Joe Crawford who has been tearing it up in D-League. He's probably not going to be much but at least he's better than Sun... Derek Fisher + Sun Yue = WORST in the league
Blake Ahearn played with Miami last year and he's the 3rd leading scorer in the DLeague right now. I also heard Doug Christie has been trying to get a workout with the Lakers.
Doug Christie That would be funny watching Doug play for the Lakers and Ric doing the post game analysis. But yeah... I think he's done. lol
The other downside on Demarcus Nelson is that he played for Duke In all seriousness though, I wouldn't mind getting him though. He fits the type of guard that Phil likes, and he makes up for inexperience with a high basketball IQ. In the end, I'd personally like to have someone with triangle experience though. Someone like a Lue or a Pargo. Is it necessary? No, but it sure would be nice. I'd also take a good defensive PG...we lack that right now.
I wouldn't mind doing that deal. We'd get Hinrich, who'd be MORE than sufficient for a backup PG. He'd also push Farmar and cause Farmar to play better. Plus, we get frontcourt depth in Tyrus and Gooden, and a solid backup for Kobe in Thabo. I highly doubt the Bulls would do that though.
The only true advantage for the Bulls is freeing up a ton of cap space and the logjam they have. They'd still have enough talent to reach the playoffs although they'd probably be better off in the lottery again. PG - Rose/Hunter SG - Gordon/Hughes SF - Deng/Radman PF - Odom/Noc C - Noah/Mihm
Lakers lineup would be: PG - Hinrich/Fisher/Farmar SG - Kobe/Sasha/Sefolosha SF - Ariza/Thomas/Walton PF - Gasol/Powell C - Bynum/Gooden
The Bulls would certainly save money, which we all know cheap-skate Reinsdorf is all about that. That is the big advantage of doing that deal. It would also help them free up the cap space to potentially bring back Gordon, so I guess there are quite a few things working in it for them. As for the playoffs...I can't see them making the playoffs with lineup. They still don't have enough inside scoring and still aren't good on the defensive end. They also have a terrible coach, which doesn't help the cause.
Oh yeah, Smush Parker signed with a team in China, so he is not an option. Sorry guys, Mitch should've moved faster when he had a shot. Our loss.
Smush in China LMAO Did he sign with the team Bonzi is playing for? I read Bonzi scored 50 points in his first game.
Smush plays for Guandong and Bonzi plays for Shangxi or something (lol at his stint with the Vipers btw): http://lakersblog.latimes.com/lakersblog/2009/01/ever-wondered-w.html I'll miss him
