I think he's making great progress. You can see his confidence improving with every game.

He had 6 boards tonight in 14 minutes, and 4 of those were offensive boards.

Also if you used the per 36, he's averaging 11.1 boards and 16.6 points.

He has a higher TRB% than Lopez or Aldridge.

    Robinson 17.1 TRB%
    Lopez 15.6 TRB%
    Aldridge 15.3 TRB%

    Nice stats.

He sure reminds me of Buck Williams. And I have noticed he has really leaned up since summer league so to me just how he plays reminds me of Buck.

I'm not really a huge fan of Per 36 because it doesn't always give a realistic representation of what a player is capable of doing, BUT I used it in this case because I wanted to extrapolate his current rebounding to more minutes per game. Would he average 11 boards per game if he played 36 minutes a night? Hard to say, but I still think he's rebounding at a good rate in the minutes that he is playing.

With that said, I loved that he had 2 blocks against Utah, and the Mike's were adamant that he should have had a third block but the Jazz scorers took it away.

Here's a link to draft express scouting report on him from three years ago. Yes, he is a driver and a tenacious defender. Sounds like distributing so-so. Seems his weaknesses wouldn't be as noticeable as an energized backup; in fact that seems his ideal role, but as you say, does he realize that? I don't think Toronto would want Mo in a trade (and I'm not sure Olshey would trade him; I sense that if he induced a guy to sign by laying out a certain scenario, that he won't go back on that). anyway, a Leonard, Claver and Barton trade for Lowry would work salary wise.

And i don't really like that trade, just for a half year rental. I would rather use our assets elsewhere; I have mentioned Varejao.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you about T. Rob. I think by mid season, he's gonna slow down. I think he will be our key big off the bench soon.

This will be an interesting discussion, I am sure, but I am anxious to see it.

    Lamar Odom

Shell of his former self, with drug issues, but....

If he is clean and willing, he may be a pretty good vet with playoff and championship experience that could step in and not hurt us terribly if need be.

He is also, supposedly, a great teammate

    Any thought?

My first thought is: "Why would he want to come here?"

Dear god I would hate that. He has been washed up for years. The last thing the Blazers need is an over the hill player with major drug issues. Can you imagine the PR mess when he is on a 48 hour bender at a crack house?

The Bucks might be willing trade partners. I like Ekpe Udoh, Ersan Ilyasova and possibly even Caron Butler to fill out our bench. (I won't mention any of their good young players, because why would they trade them?) It would also be really nice if the Raptors waived Chuck Hayes, but I guess they waived Augustin instead. Lowry worries me. He had that one spell in Houston when he was a PER monster and a great defender, but he got fat and cranky, and he plays selfish. The Raptors also have Steve Novak, obviously the reason the Knicks have fallen so far this year... Varejao would be flippin' sweet but why would the Cavs do that? Are they tanking now? (Intentionally, that is, they've been doing it unintentionally up to now.)

Didn't the Mavs try this with disastrous results? And that was BEFORE all the tabloid stuff.

I don't think we need a crackhead on our team.

As good as Robin Lopez' stats have been, there is a lot of discussion about how much he helps the team and his teammates in ways that don't show up in his stats. On this I agree. One example is the perception that due to Robin's play and impact on the game, his teammates are having career years in rebounding the ball, and Aldridge is freer to play LaMonster in the starring role.

Likewise, as horrible as Mo Williams' shooting and turnovers are, I believe he hurts the team in ways that go well beyond his personal stats -- pounding the ball, missing or ignoring wide open teammates, going one-on-three, launching bad shots with 20 seconds on the shot clock without a single teammate in position, destroying ball movement, etc.

Even if CJ comes back, I don't see CJ usurping Mo with Stotts running the ship.

    What to do?

I am late to this thread. (Thankfully) But this is my thinking as well. I was all for getting CJ in the draft, but all summer I was saying he is not a PG. Don't try to make him into one. And I am a similar belief that Mo is not either. He is OK until he dribbles into traffic.

I agree with those who say play Earl with Mo if you want more scoring from the bench. However I think Stotts hopes Mo can be Jason Terry light from his Dallas days. If he wants to try it a little longer, I am OK with that. Maybe he thinks Mo and Cj can play together. Not sure, but as I said after about game 3......my concern is playing teams who pressure our Pg's. Damian has looked good, but Mo is more SG than PG IMO. He will score more if he does not have to worry about setting the other bench players up. I think Terry should give it a shot.

Are Pritchardian terms allowed during the Olsheyan Empire?

For those claiming that Mo and others on our bench are so incredibly inconsistent, where are your stats to back it up?

You're acting like it is possible to greatly improve the consistency of the bench players, but you have never shown a stat to help make your point.
