Personally, I love when that happens. When someone makes stupid and/or premature posts about players, they need to be mocked. It is the only way they will improve as a poster.
Good for you. I guess if Elleby plays badly the next time I can come and mock you and Scalma and Platypus. Except, I'm not going to do that, and I'm also not going to be the one on a public message board evaluating posters on who needs to improve and who doesn't. BTW, were you here taking a stand on this earlier this week or are you just coming out of the woodwork now, too? EDIT: You were here. My apologies for implying you weren't.
But you’ll judge him in mop minutes and the preseason instead? And it’s now the second time you brought up his little 10 second stint from Tuesday. That’s definitely something one does when they’re NOT judging.
I brought up the 10-second stint from Tuesday twice in response to things that were being said about me today because you are riding high on Elleby's good game last night. Don't lie and make it seem like I was in here after that 10-second stint dragging you and Elleby when it happened because I wasn't. It was a bad moment for him but I'm not evaluating his potential on one bad moment. As for the first part of your post, no, I obviously did not judge him on mop up time alone. There's a whoooooole long post above where I explained my rationale. Now, you and Platypus can go and DM each other and talk about how you got me, since this really looks like this was a coordinated effort to take a shot at another Blazer fan when the opportunity presented itself. Congrats. You are amazing people. Go have a drink on me.
You can mock me but to be clear, I don't think he will be consistent for a while. Of course, he will have some horrible games, he is a rookie who has only played in a handful of games. A rookie who had no summer league or offseason to learn. He also needs to add about 10 lbs and get used to the NBA 3 pt line. What can I say, I have a pet peeve about fans who are too quick to slam a young player before he has even had a chance. I don't expect CJE to be a starter, and he has a long way to even be a consistent role player but he needs at least a year before we write him off. Not 10 games.
I asked a legit question, and instead of just answering it, you get all defensive to the point of accusing posters of coordinating against you. Maybe relax?
OK. And that's fair. It's a reasonable opinion. Would have been nice for you to have stated it when we had the original discussion instead of piling on now. but I wouldn't disagree with you. I just have reasons for seeing Elleby as an even greater long shot than you do, and I expressed those reasons more thoroughly than I probably should have needed to because apparently his biggest fan is in this thread. I'm still not going to mock you. TBH, I thought this discussion was done until a guy with buttons who wasn't part of it suddenly decided to revive it for no apparent reason, still didn't add anything to the discussion, and left.
It's not being defensive, it's being irritated. And I answered all of your questions whether legit or not Tuesday and today. Actually, I answered Platypus' question for you. I don't know, are you saying you're Platypus, too? We both said what we had to say on Tuesday, and that was that. Suddenly a third party, a guy with buttons no less, is reviving the conversation three days later after a big Blazer win. He wasn't part of the discussion three days ago. He wasn't here questioning you about Elleby when Elleby didn't play well the other night and I was silent. Heck, he didn't even say if he agrees with either of us now. He just throws a grenade into a crowd and leaves. Some moderation. And then, right after I reply to him, you suddenly are back into the discussion again, looking for validation. You weren't tagged or anything. At 7 a.m. Pacific time the night after a big win. Seems sus. I mean, what are the odds of that? On top of it, I noticed you didn't deny it, either. Instead, you're saying I'm defensive for bringing it up. Wonder whyyyyyyyyyyyy .......
Are you thinking this is going to be one of these things where we are obligated to respond to everything Elleby does from here on out to display our vast knowledge? Because I'm seriously not going to be coming into random threads calling you out every time C.J. Elleby pulls a "DNP -- coach's decision" or is a minus-5 in a minute. I don't have the time for that. If that's what you need to do, though, I mean, I guess if it makes you happy, Scalma, live it up.
cj2 is not a valuable asset right now. However, I have hopes that that will change. I was very encouraged with him last game.
I'm sorry it came across that way. I actually just happened to be reading through that thread for the first time last night, and found the discussion juxtaposed with the game interesting. My intention was not at all to "take shots" at you at all; was more curious whether that game might have caused you to reevaluate your opinion of him. Again, I apologize for posting in such a manner that came off that way. Was not my intention to be anything but respectful.
No problem. I apologize for making it such a direction of the discussion. I'm happy he stepped up when he got the opportunity. I hope he keeps doing it, because it would be found gold, and I'm more than willing to look bad if the team wins. For me, it has to be a consistent thing. One really good performance or one really bad performance doesn't alter things. It's the pattern. He did show me things in his game last night that I honestly didn't think he had. I just need to see him keep that up, and I'll gladly take my crow with tomato sauce and turmeric.
He's just got a very strange game, and I don't know what to make of him. Like sometimes he's battling with D-Ho for offensive boards, and then he's running point, and then he's in an opponent's passing lane...and he doesn't really look like he's doing anything particularly well, but is somehow effective. He confuses me.
I think they envision him as something of a poor man's Nic Batum. Not as athletic, but maybe with more upside as a consistent outside shooter/scorer. The thing is he's still 3 inches shorter than Batum and I think playing with a quickness disadvantage is probably the worst liability to have to overcome in the NBA. I've become a bit prejudiced to guys who are light on their feet, and I still don't see that from him. What I liked more than anything in the Philly game was he was willing to scrap and do the dirty, little stuff, just stick his nose in there and try to make things happen. Kind of the anti-Ant, who I think slumped because he was overthinking but has all kinds of athletic upside that he hasn't even come close to exploring.
You must be one of the dozens who can't see HCP quotes. HCP recently requested that Sly list everyone who has him on Ignore, which Sly did, but HCP of course can't read them so he doesn't know.
