I would include Henderson on that keep list. We essentially will have swapped Kaman and Roberts for Turner and Layman
My point was that we need to retain YOUNG assets because we're going to have to try to hit the window in 3-4 years. Hendo isn't really that young anymore, but Harkless and Crabbe and Leonard are all in their early 20s.
Yep totally agree. Have to keep eyes on the 2 years from now window. GSW are going to have to make some massive $$$ decisions in the next couple summers. Sure fielding a super team like this is great for a year or 2 but it's very expensive to maintain.
With Minnesota, Dallas, Memphis, et al all getting better this off-season, and us not, there very well may be a lottery pick in our near future.
At the center position with defense yes. Wes will probably be better next year. That question really depends on Barnes. Will he finally realize his potential? I still think dallas makes the playoffs as long as dirk doesnt completely regress.
Exactly. I also think Powell will start to get an increased role as Dirk begins to be phased out, so they're going to get younger, tougher, and more athletic at the PF spot. Plus, I really like AJ Hammons, and think he'll be able to contribute right away as a solid backup for Bogut.
I think someone should check on Olshey to make sure he is ok...several days of inaction....now Hendo gone...the way things have gone, I half expect our restricted free agents to get offer sheets, and the Blazers not to match, but I know we will, we have to
I could be completely wrong as usual; but i think there may be some kind of waiting game, or who will blink first game, going on with Olshey and Ezeli. Ezeli wants to come to Portland, but he wants more money than the 9 million they have right now. He is hoping Portland will get nervous that someone else will take him, or he is waiting to see if someone makes such a big offer on one of Portland's RFA's that they let him go and have more money for Ezeli. That tweet from Quick yesterday to the effect that PDX was giving up on Ezeli and going for Pachulia so they could keep all their RFA's was probably a clumsy part of the game, but when Pachulia signed so quickly with GS, it made it a very weak attempt. We'll see what happens.......
I agree that we need to re-sign our free agents, but I feel just as strongly that we need to trade Crabbe if his salary is over $11 mil/year.
Lol Dallas went from Parsons and Zaza to Barnes and Bogut. That's not an upgrade and Dirk is one year older. Who's the biggest difference maker the Wolves got? A rookie. That's not gonna cover the 15 game gap between us and them. Memphis could be better than us, but they are a frail team with absolutely no bench. Y'all are getting too down..
I think they're trying to get him at $11M (They'd trade Plumlee). Maybe $14M if they trade Vonleh. Would you guys swap Plumlee and Vonleh for Ezeli and 2 Future 1sts? Those future 1sts will be more valuable in a blockbuster trade when packaged with Crabbe/Meyers/Moe/etc.
No. I've become convinced of Ezeli's general frailty, and I think Vonleh somehow figuring it out and becoming a legit starter at PF is about our only path to respectability given our trade/free agent woes.
Since we have struck out on most of our free agent targets, retaining looks to be a forgone conclusion. The question is, how much better will our three guys become next season? I'm quite excited to see Crabbe and Harkless' progression, especially defensively and I wanna know if Hark has been working on his 3. If Meyers can just become engaged on the floor he is a big value to the team, also if he can add ANY post game he will be HUGE cog in operation Fuck Over Golden State.
