Don't be a douche Stomp. No one is more upset about this than I am, and turning on your fellow fans is no answer.

The team didn't lose this game because Mariota tweaked his knee. This game was lost in the trenches. Both our running game and run defense were blown up. While Colt was a disappointment as a receiver, there is no doubt in my mind that we miss his blocking.

    right... :rolleyes2: pot / kettle

Easily Oregon's best player this season has been Mariota. He was injured going into the game and neither you or anyone here was aware of that being anything but a rumor. It certainly wasn't something you sited when you threw out a pessimistic prediction about the Stanford game very similar to what you've expressed about most every big game. With MM's injury contributing heavily you turned out to be right... now you're gloating and calling me a douche. Classy!

Stomp: I apologize for using the word "douche." That was uncalled for. I stand by the rest of my statement.

Mariota's performance - 250 yards, 2 TDs, no INTs - would have been enough to win....if the running game hadn't been crushed.

apology accepted, but MM's running threat has been a huge part of their running game. The read option is their bread and butter play and when there is little threat that the QB will tuck it and run the D can focus on option A. That was a major factor in why the running game was crushed.

I'd like to see Marcus rest it/get healthy, and next man up be it Lockie or Jake

We are a running team, and when we can't run at all, that puts a serious crimp in our game plan. Not many teams can do what Stanford did to us.

I understand what you are saying, but consider this. With the way the O-line was being out-played, would Mariota have just been turned into a punching bag?

consider this, I think you're having real problems recalling the rest of the season. Mariota has deftly played Ole! with any defender who poked through the line, turned on the jets and flew for 1st downs and more. He was the Heisman front runner for a reason. Thursday with the knee he was pedestrian and couldn't move. If you don't understand why a zone read based offense is a whole lot less effective if you have a QB who the D knows can't run just say so and I'll explain it

So.......pointing out that even good runners need effective blockers is "disingenious" and "playing stupid."

    I'm done.
