If anything, the Yanks could have set an important precedent and better managed their image to the rest of MLB and the fans. I'm more likely to shell out bucks to go to games where they took a stand and rid themselves of ARod, even if that meant a bunch of farmhands and a shitty team for 3 years.

But rather they chose money over principle. The team is still shitty, and the constant reminder to their lack of principle is there in the middle of the line up.

I lost a lot of respect for this organization after taking Arod back after the suspension. It will take a lot to regain that respect, especially without a face for the org like Jeter was.

...fwiw, I lost a lot of respect for them when they signed Chapman.

...not only that, but the deal they made is trading 4 youngsters for a partial rental for the rest of this season after Chapman's suspension is over, and the way this team is playing, especially the offense, a strong BP won't be much help.

last 2 years of deals have been beyond puzzling and maddening.

and agree now that linking cashman to arod, tex and c contracts by resigning for 3 years was a horrendous mistake on so many levels.

Meanwhile Theo went to Chicago and has put together a monster. The problem with those deals is that on one hand yes the Yankees don't win in 2009 without CC, Tex and Arod. On the other hand it's now 2016 and you're still dealing with their monster contracts and decline. Teams hopefully have learned more of a lesson now but you simply cannot give out deals like that. Let the people go elsewhere before you completely handcuff yourself.

    ...bingo.

...this is the problem I have with the way the Yanx have done business...I don't care how much a player makes a year because it's just money and it's not mine....but handing out 7-8-10 year contracts that take the player well past his peak years is just fucking dumb...and we are seeing the residue of that business plan now and we'll be forced to watch while it gets worse before it gets better.

Oh yeah, there's no way A-Roid is walking away. I'm afraid we're stuck with him for another season. But hey that still means we could open up 2017 with Bird at first & Judge in right.

A-Hole would make one helluva part time DH-ing Captain, kinda' like Pete Rose did/would.....? Give Him another 5 years, this guy is the face of MLB, and all that's good...

...ultimately, it's not up to ARod. Yes, the Yanx are obligated to pay him, but they are not obligated to play him.
