It was a fair battle, manure weren't really dominating but they just had that expirience that makes them better in big games than us, until we learn how to handle the pressure of these games we will keep dropping important points, lets just hope chelski do them next week or else they will sit pretty on top of the table. Wenger really needs to start putting pressure on Clichy, this guy has stopped improving for the last 3 years, he's garbage and always shaky against the top teams, he should be told to improve or to fuck off!.
It's all down to a mental block against these big teams. We see it with Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, and Barcelona. We can't seem to get into our top gear when we're playing these teams. We need to get over this if we want to have a chance to win the league. I'm still confident we will win silverware this year (I'm not including the Carling Cup) but we need to keep playing like we want to fucking win something. Our defense handled the ball like it was a hot potato. If we don't have a stable back-four, we're never going to get the right flow in the midfield. We can't expect miracles. Tex played a fantastic game considering the scenario. Playing in-goal, on your debut, during one of the biggest matches of the season is a huge ask and he handled it very well. My only gripe was his distribution. He gave the ball way too many times when throwing/passing the ball out of his box. Clichy was the worst player on the pitch, in my opinion. He constantly leaves acres of space behind him and I always see him out of position. I don't know what's up, he was one of the best left-backs before his long-term back problem. And to Wenger, buy a centreback. I can't fucking wait until Vermaelen is back.
To add, Song was also very poor today. He couldn't string a pass together and was half the reason our attacks couldn't get started.
One more thing, I doubt we will see much anger or erratic behavior from Wenger during the post-match conference. Yes we lost but there isn't much we can complain about. Ferguson's dirty tactics crowded out our midfield and we paid the price.
Yeah Bacon face got his tactics right. We just seem so nervous and they so calm in these matches and that makes a huge diffrence. They usually wait for us to attack and study our movement and then get us on the counter attacks. This could have been a 3-0 if it weren't for Nani's selfishness and Rooney's penalty. I agree about the CB, I noticed Koncielny and Squid don't getplay well together, lets just hope the verminator doesn't become the next RvP or Rosicknote in terms of injuries.
Nah, this Vermaelen injury seems to be a fluke (and actually a little bit fishy, if you ask me). There is something paining him in his Achilles but I don't think it will be something that will reoccur. Once we give it time to heal it should be fine. Sometimes I am enraged by how stubborn Wenger can be. We clearly needed to get a QUALITY centreback this year, we clearly have the money for it. Koscielny is decent but we won't remember him in 10 years. He will never become a quality centreback by Arsenal. He'll just be another face that was at the club and left the next season. Vermaelen and Sagna are our only defenders who will make a name at Emirates. Clichy had the chance but I don't think there is any way back for him. He needs to take a long hard look at the squad and weed out the shit players and bring in some real quality. Two players with a high pricetag is all it takes. A god damn commanding centreback to work with Vermaelen and a fucking striker who scores like it's his business (Bent!). van Persie put in another 30 minutes of doing absolutely nothing. What is the point of having a striker if he isn't going to score goals? Backheel passes are wonderful to watch but if it isn't giving us the equalizer I don't care anymore. We can't be relying on one player to save us from dropping points. It was Fabregas, with a little bit of Arshavin, last year and it's Nasri this year. No player is going to score every game (unless you're Messi). Anyway, I'm leaving work to have a rage session at the gym.
