Sounds Southern. My Georgia grandmother used to put half and half on everything including strawberries. To my great surprise she died in her 60s of a heart attack. Needless to say, I watch my fat intake a little more carefully. Whipped cream is a weakness for me.

I used to buy cans for no other reason than to squirt them into my mouth. I didn't even use them on desserts. :biglaugh:

The fat doesn’t play the same role if there’s no sugar. I use heavy whipping cream for my coffee and as dessert often, eat bacon and steak and all sorts of fatty fare. But I watch my carbs like a hawk. I get full blood work ups at the doctors. Aside from one supplement I need to take due to a genetic abnormality the doctor said every result from my last blood panel was in optimal range. Not just good, but optimal. When I used to eat a low fat diet but had lots of carbs, I was pre diabetic and blood pressure was getting high as well as cholesterol issues. It’s not the Fat my friend, it’s the carbs and especially the sugars. Also being very active works wonders.

Your line of thinking is based on antiquated information propagandized by a government paid off by sugar money. The depth of this conspiracy has come to light in the past decade.

Are you saying there are people who haven't done this?

Edit: When I was a kid there were no electric egg beaters. We had to beat our whipped cream with a hand driven mechanical egg beater. Even as a little boy I would volunteer just so I could lick the beaters when done.

My nutritionists are paid by the VA and are not beholding to anyone. They've counseled me on not eating too much fat.
My other grandparents lived in rural Alabama and they both died of heart attacks. Nobody but nobody eats a diet richer with fat than people in rural Alabama although Georgia is a very close second. Lots of fat back, red eye gravy and fried chicken.
Nope, I'm gonna stick with a diet as low in fat as I can tolerate.
I had a third grandmother who adopted my mother when my mother was a small child who lived in Northeastern Washington and ate a diet very low in fat and lived into her late 90s.
My cholesterol is very low as a result of my diet and a small dose of prevastatin.

I haven't really been dieting other than trying to control portions (we do eat pretty healthy though). Still making it to the gym almost every day. Playing a ton of basketball, to which I don't ever in my life remember being this slow, it's depressing how bad I am... I know I'll be able to work myself out of it at least partially but I just feel so bad for anyone who gets stuck on my team lol.

Eat a Baby Ruth candy bar and you'll feel better about yourself. Now, look at that perfect physique in the mirror and you'll be in Nirvana.

Yeah, I went out and got a giant meal and some junk food to sustain me until the next shopping day. Damn, I lasted 4 days with this shit; I was so sure I could go a year, lol.

I'm still cutting out soda and pizza. But chocolate and sweets.....sorry, I need them. The withdrawal is too much to bear. I'm a tyrant without them.

You know not that you need or want my advice, but if its truly “addict like” withdrawal. Maybe you should start slowly, like just cut those things a bit, each week. Until you’re down to either none or very little.

I think the problem with most people who start dieting is they drop everything that is deemed as unhealthy all at once. Your brain overloads with cravings triggers firing off all at the same time until it gets too damn much to take and you are inhaling a large Value Meal to stop the pain. Its no wonder more people fail then succeed. You have to completely re-wire your brain and re-teach it so you don't need that particular craving to get through the day. I am no nutritionist and have never dieted myself but my advice would be to write a list of all the unhealthy foods that you have a craving for, from strongest to weakest and then start at the very bottom of that list and get rid of that one and once you are no longer having a need for it, move to the second weakest craving and work up from there until you are at the very strongest craving you have. By that time it will ironically probably be the easiest craving to get rid of in my opinion

Just a pointer, In making your list, don't put 'Salty Snacks' as a craving. That is too broad, break it down into individual things like 'potato chips', etc.

Just my suggestion. Not telling you what to do. Good luck to you.

    Stop being a little bitch!

I say that kind of seriously, if you want any diet to work you just have to bite the bullet and accept the shitty new lifestyle.

I will offer this piece of advice, it’s not all in your head, it’s your production of dopamine. After years of treating yourself to sweets and carbs your body now doesn’t make dopamine at the right levels or at the right times. That’s why junk food is such a pick-me-up.

You have to find a new way to produce dopamine on your schedule. Exercise is probably the best, but there are also drugs, coffee, porn, gambling, sex, anal sex, reverse cowgirl anal sex, backwards monkey anal sex, yoga, parachuting and other options that might fit your lifestyle. But one way or the other your diet will continue to be overly difficult if you don’t find a way to address your dopamine levels.

Begin with changing your gut bacteria. Right now, your gut bacteria has you craving unhealthy foods. You'll need to change that in order to take control of your craving issues.

You can also crush up some pork rinds, add a little almond flour and water and make some Keto friendly tortillas.

That has gotten me thru a bread craving.
