Big men are a little bit different. Leonard has to show some improvement this year, but he won't be a complete write-off for at least another year (unless we see zero improvement in his court awareness and defensive rotations).
He had a 12.1 PER on 13.9 USG, showed a nice shooting touch, and had the best Ortg on the team. The people who expect him to be an elite starting center right off the bat are being unrealistic (and repetitive). Per/36 11ppg 8rpg 1.2bpg 5 fpg
His percentages were great, and the guy played 17mpg, let's not act like he was a garbage time scrub or something...I contend he is right now one of the better centers (on offense) in the league
I am not on the ML bandwagon. In glimpses from recent video he has looked a little better. He doesn't have to be great, he just needs rebound better and defend as a backup.
You can't give Meyers Leonard the ball on the block and expect him to even consistently create a good shot. He doesn't have it. It probably has something to do with practicing 3's too much. Thanks, Stotts.
Again ... how many centers in the league right now are dependable scorers in the post? How many of them were rookies last year?
You mean which one's actually have at least some sort of skill to score in the paint? Let's see. Nene Brook Lopez Robin Lopez Dwight Howard Andrew Bynum DeMarcus Cousins Marc Gasol Monroe Pekovic Vucevic Hibbert Al Jefferson Al Horford Then there are guys like Noah, Favors, Drummond, etc who aren't polished scorers but still play tough inside in the paint. Meyers Leonard obviously doesn't do that.
So 13, and I'll give you Horford and Monroe, who are more PF. Pekovic doesn't really have a post game either, he gets a ton of Orbs, though. Robin Lopez and Hibbert were more raw than Leonard as rookies, Bynum can't stay healthy, Jefferson is undersized, Favors LOL...
