Monroe and Horford have played center their entire career. Pekovic scores well on the block Roy Hibbert was much better as a rookie Lopez and Leonard are essentially even their rookie years Favors bullies opponents in the paint
Not that I want him shooting a lot of 3s, but isn't making 3-pointers generating offense? So, he needs someone to pass him the ball to score? You could say the same thing about over half the starters in the entire league. That's why guys like Chris Paul, who can generate offense for others, are so valuable. Even if you have a dominant low post scorer, you still need someone who can effectively feed the post and get him the ball in position where he can go to work. The kid definitely has some offensive skills, they may not be THE offensive skills you want him to have, but the ability to shoot the basketball and make FTs is never a bad thing in a player of any size. And, a soft shooting touch is the gateway to expanding your offensive game. All the great footwork and post moves don't mean anything if you can't put the ball in the basket to save your life. Footwork and post moves can be taught, especially to someone with Leonard's size, coordination and athleticism. Giving up on a big man at such a young age is foolish and short sighted. BNM
ML has shown some touch around the basket. I think the potential is their to be good in the post. It'll be fun to watch him develop this season.
http://www.82games.com/1213/12POR16.HTM says nards shot 54% jumpers, 31% "close" (not sure), 13% dunks, 2% tips 46% of his shots were "inside" and he shot 61% on them 50% on jumpers
He actually shot 39% on jumpers http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/leoname01/shooting/2013/
Just one question: why did a thread about welcoming the Blazers new players to town suddenly (and sadly predictable) degenerate into yet another Meyers Leonard bashing thread. Do we have to discuss this same topic in EVERY thread. Is this some new rule I missed? If not, can we try to keep the Leonard bashing in the appropriate threads. Shouldn't be too hard, there are plenty to choose from. BNM
Is it my imagination or does Lopez have some of the biggest hands in the NBA. The pictures make them look monstrous. Funny, how the brothers are so artsy and love animation. I mentioned before that I saw them together at Disneyland. And how can you not love two 7-footers riding Splash Mountain:
