Meyers always seemed like a goof.

Zach seems much more intense than that.... and his dad looks like a real piece of work. Strikes me as the kind of guy that screams at the umpire during a little league game.

Really ? I don't think he lacks self confidence.
I'd rather have a guy who understand he played meh and says he's gotta get better than Meyers fucking Leonard who thinks he has a huge impact on the court.

It feels different to me though. I don't see it as the same as Butters. Butters consistently thinks he's doing well.

I didn't compare him to Butters. I don't think it's the same thing..... but it's still concerning to me though.

We have had other guys that had confidence issues.

    Martell Webster
    Sebastian Telfair
    Allen Crabbe

Frankly, if I was drafting talent, I'd stay away from players that had issues like that. I want guys like Dame and CJ. Guys that are focused like a laser. Guys that have proven their doubters wrong and want more. I love that kind of player.

This is a good point. There is a fine line between using failure or challenges to motivate yourself to get better (Dame) and getting down on yourself in a negative way (above list). Not sure where ZCo is going to end up, but he seems to be riding the line closer than I would like. He needs Dame in his ear telling him not to get too high or too low.

Can we even be making assessments like this when he has yet to play even a minute of NBA basketball?

Nah, I don't see that in him at all. I see him telling himself, "that performance sucked, I'm better than that, I'll get 'em next time". I don't think he's lacking in confidence at all, and I'm not even a little bit worried about his attitude.

The flip side is someone like Darius Miles or most of Dion Waiters' career--delusionally confident in their abilities, despite not having sufficient game to make that work.

Honestly, I'm not even convinced guys like Crabbe and Leonard lack confidence. I think they're aware of their limits. Crabbe doesn't shoot contested shots because he can't do it well. If he could, I think he'd be firing away. Same for Leonard. Leonard is a slow processor (by NBA standards) and by the time he's ready to shoot or pass, he's no longer open or the passing lane is no longer there.

Waiters Island was pretty good for Miami last year. Dont disagree, just sayin' he had a good year and his irrational confidence was a big part of it. Just say Nick Young and everyone can get onboard lol

Duh, it's off season. Speculating and assessing with little or no information is all we have. Get your head in the game. :cowboy:

That's specifically why I said "most of Dion Waiters' career," pard. ;)

Would it be weird of me to think that his mom was very pretty. But no offense meant Mr. Collins (very large dad).

Re-watched his SL performance vs the Celtics and forgot how damn impressive he was defensively in that game. Looked more comfortable offensively too, but shots just didn't fall.

For all the love Swanigan has gotten this Summer, I'd still bet on Collins getting more playing time this year.
