You don't have to use up your cap space. Theoretically, you have to reach the salary floor, but even that doesn't ultimately matter much. The "punishment" for not doing so is dividing the difference between your actual payroll and the team salary floor among your players. The Sixers have done it once or twice. The Blazers are well over the salary floor, though.
Since this is now officially a rebuild (official the moment Aldridge went to San Antonio), that's fine. They can save that cap space and either use it for trades to pick up a good player someone wants to dump for cap space, or else use it next year. I mean, Durant isn't walking through that door, but perhaps the Blazers can strike quickly on a mid-tier free agent or two while other teams are waiting on the top guys.
What about all the other people who responded to your thread? You make it sound like I was the only one who thought your thread was a little.... redundant. Again, 1000s of posts in threads for people who are stunned, upset, a whole range of emotions yet you seemed to have come to the conclusion that you're the only one stunned or upset. But it is nice that you called me a friend. I think of you as one too.
I think they should sign Jeremy Lin to a 16 million dollar one year deal. The Asian community would love us!
I like Gee because he's a great defender and fits in with the style of play we seem to be building here....I wish he had gotten more playing time last year.
Yeah. My only issue is he's redundant now. We need some guys who can put the ball in the hoop reliably other than by dunking it. We have athletes and dunkers now.
But Johnson is not really that much better of a shooter than Gee. At least Gee gives you top notch defense.
Oh really? I didn't know that. I haven't looked at stats but for some reason I thought Johnson was a decent shooter.
He is decent, but so is Gee. Gee is a career 33% shooter from 3. His mid range game really sucks though.
I'm sure he was stunned like everyone else about the Texas Turncoat. However, after the traitor confirmed his lie, I'm sure he understood that Fropez and Wesley would not be back. I'm sure he wasn't surprised about AA leaving or Batum being traded (as many were clamoring for them not to return).
