I agree. Trades seem to be our only legit hope of upgrading the position.

BTW Reddick is this year's Jason Kapono. He'll get overpaid because he shot well in the playoffs. Whoever get's stuck with him long-term will regret his lack of D and playmaking.

Reddick's D really has improved and he is a pretty good defender.

I do think this statement says one thing loud and clear though: Bayless and Rudy are not seen as pivotal pieces of the puzzle moving forward and they recognize that Miller's effectiveness probably can't be counted on for more than 1 more year.

Interesting today there is an article on Hoopshype talking about the Lakers possibly going after Blake or Ridnour if they do not re-sign Farmar. Luke is one guy that I think would be a good back up PG for us. Sure is D is not the best, but he is still a solid back up if they decide to move away from Bayless.

Since when did Portland trade places with the T'Wolves?

We just watched a finals that clearly showed that length wins in the playoffs.

So what does Portland do? Draft 2 of 3 players 6'4" and under then target guards in free agency.

    Brilliant!

We have Oden, Aldridge, Camby, and Batum. If they're healthy, we have plenty of length. Plus Babbitt and Williams bring significant length for the positions they play too. But let's ignore all that.

What available free agent would you have us add to our team to improve our length without disrupting chemistry?

Damn! If Blake goes to the Lakers he'll show Phil all of Nate's ISO secrets.

Blake is the perfect guard to play with K*be. I still think we bring him back, however.

I disagree. I think if many of the players listed above had been shooting instead of Rudy in the playoffs, it would have changed the results drastically.

You misunderstood me. I was not stating there were decent FA PG's available for the MLE, but PG's available via trade (Parker, Harris, Calderon...)

Blazers draft two guards, one in the first round, and they are targeting guards with the MLE? Sweet Jeebus.

How about a back-up PF with some size? Is that too obvious?

I thought Bayless increased his stock in the playoffs . . . obviously not enough (if any).

I wonder the type of salary Ray Allen will be looking for, or able to get. Would he take a 3 year deal worth slightly less than 15 million total? I saw yesterday 3 years, 15 million floated. I'm guessing some other team could potentially overpay to get him, and pair him with, say Bosh and Wade, or Lebron in NY. A 3 year $14,665,892 contract? S&T Rudy and Bayless for Ray Allen. Might be overpaying youth for old age. Who knows. I imagine end of the game lineups could see ROy, Allen and Batum on the wings. Good shooting, and solid defense all around. S&T for him still leaves the MLE, as well. I doubt he'd come for that cheap, so maybe a S&T with Joel works better. Who knows. My thought is Boston is going to need bodies, since they don't have many people under contract. Would still love to work a trade for Parker. Not sure who'd they'd want, or what. Miller, Bayless, etc. doesn't seem like enough.

Last I looked we have Camby....I believe shooting is a higher priority. You can't tell me the playoffs would have turned out much differently if we didn't have Mr. Doughnut, Rudy Fernandez shooting.

The draft was done with an eye toward trading this summer.

Amir Johnson, Ian Mahinmi, Kurt Thomas, and Haywood off the top of my head would be good insurance policies to have.

And let's assume that at least one of the dudes you mentioned is hurt for at least part of the year since all but LA have been hurt for a portion of literally every single year they have been the league.

Williams can't replace anyone in your list of bigs, so his size is meaningless.
Babbit might be able to but I would prefer the team to be stacked with guys that have already proven they can play in the NBA then count on a dude who dominated a mediocre conference in college.

As long as we are healthy, Camby will be our backup PF. Just need a 3rd stringer behind him, and Pendergraph, Cunningham, a minimum guy like Juwan Howard are all perfectly acceptable 3rd stringers there.

Intersting . . . does Howard make the team?

How about Howard as assistant coach . . . with a uni under the suit. :)
