IMHO, the team that wins Sunday will win the series. I don't, however, expect Denver to lose at home in game 5. Winning just 1 game in Denver was a big accomplishment.
I've learned to enjoy a game at a time without expecting anything....then you win like last night and it's so much sweeter...Denver is getting worn down.
every year we hear this...not buying it. Our desirability factor as a destination is changing right before our eyes....We have two expiring contracts...all we need is a couple 1 year commitments with promise of a bigger deal the following season. Enes has made almost 100mil in his career already thanks to the Blazers...I could see him signing for a big paycut on a one year deal ...Hood will play here for peanuts at this point as well I think. I'd say Layman walks.
I was just thinking that the Blazers are this year's Celtics. Last year they made a playoff run without the players supposed to be their best (Irving, Hayward). Of course, we've still got Dame and CJ, but then again, we're in the WEST.
Very well put. Think I'll be doing a copy and paste of this many times in the next few months, if you don't mind!
You're lucky bro. Before last nites epic, I was watching the pregame where Dame's 37 was shown. My GF walked into the room (where I'm quietly watching) and says "oh did they win?" When I asked if that shot looked eerily familiar to the one he hit against OKC she said yes. "Don't you think I'd be screaming or something?.....the game hasn't even started" Later during the final OT she keeps insisting the game is in Denver. When I point out the huge pinwheel at center court being the Blazers insignia she replies "well I don't know that kinda stuff" I Love Her.
Wut? We’re doing this without our starting BEAST at center! I’m fairly confident we’ll get one of Kanter/Hood/Curry back next year as well. We are looking FINE for the next few years!
I am very high on Simons and Zach. This team has a lot of upside even if none of Hood/Curry/Kanter are back (and I expect at least one of them to be back).
Winning 6 playoff games is the most since 2000! So already our best season in 20 years, hope we get a few more wins!
from 2015 - 2018, Portland was 6-18 in the playoffs (with 3 wins coming against a crippled team). This season, Portland is 6-2 in the playoffs and if anything, they are the 'crippled' team missing their 2nd best player Portland needs to complete that narrative by closing out the Nuggets
Kanter is coming back super cheap for one year, then getting his next big contract the year after. It just makes WAY too much sense for him if he loves this place as much as he says he does.
If Kanter / Hood /Curry get great offers I wont fault any of them for leaving. With injuries and how short NBA careers can be I absolutely understand making the money while you can. I think there is a good chance the Blazers keep at least one of them.
I would on Kanter. He made money already. And i don't think he is all that materialistic. I think the only way money would drive him is if he knows he can funnel it to his family. Which i don't think he can. This guy lives real life struggles. I think happiness is more important to him than money. He has said these things basically. If he then signed somewhere else for a big pay day i would be disappointed and lose a little respect for his character. Agsin, unless its known the money is going towards his. Causes and not his house and garages. (Lots of hot rods and stuff)
In the worst-case scenario, we may lose this series in 7. I'd still be proud and happy with this team. More than likely, we take the series in game six and then get spanked in 5 games vs the Warriors. I'd still be happy.
Depends what he gets offered, if someone wants to give him 4 years 70-80M or something like that he should take it. Its a job at the end of the day. They work for money. I would absolutely not lose respect for a guy deciding to get paid. I hope he stays but its so much easier for us to say he should leave money especially millions on the table, when were not having to do it ourselves.
I don't know about that CC He's said he loves Portland several times, but I haven't heard him say anything about re-signing I do think, it there is a little faith on both sides, Portland can come up with a competitive offer (wink wink)
Ive taken less for a better working condition Nd i don't have millions in the bank like he does. Also he would have near the money he has now if it weren't for olshey. Players are no different. Some, if happy, might take less. I think he is of that type. If he had never been paid then i would side with you more.
