I could see them moving us up to #1, but we still won't get the 'Noles. The committee doesn't want FSU to have to come out to Pasadena. If FSU wins tomorrow, they'll get Alabama, and we'll get TCU/OSU/Baylor
Other game is at the Sugar bowl. #1 seed gets game wherever is closest to them. Basically, Oregon is guaranteed to play in the Rose Bowl, because every other possible playoff team is closer to New Orleans than Pasadena. But I think the committee will end up more interested in matchups than actual rankings.
I like our chances against any of those teams. I've seen Alabama enough this year to know, they weren't what they've been the past couple years.
Well, the fact that they have Lame Kitten as their OC is a plus because we know him. We know his system. We have crushed him.
All kinds of mayhem could occur tomorrow. Alabama and FSU may well lose and get knocked out of the playoffs completely. FSU has been barely beating teams and they are playing 11 georgia tech.
Agreed. I expect both FSU ave tOSU to lose. That would leave us, Bama, and the 2 big 12 schools as the top 4. But if Baylor losses to KSU as well, that will create quite the clusterf@(#. The 4 spot would then come down to 1-loss FSU, a 2-loss conference champ (Wisconsin or Georgia Tech), or 2-loss Mississippi St. That would be so awesome.
This playoff thing is fucking us. Under the old system we would be in the national championship game. Now with the playoffs we have to play two games to win the national championship. Being 3rd or 4th gives you a shot at a championship you wouldn't have otherwise had, being 1st or 2nd means means you have one more hurdle to jump before playing for the national championship. BRING BACK THE OLD SYSTEM! (and yes I'm kidding.)
Is that true sly? That oregon would be #1 or #2? Do they still have a mock bcs ranking somewhere? Btw my phone autocorrects bcs to BBC's
Or, we would be on the outside looking in because FSU and Bama would end up being #1 and #2 at the end of the year? The AP current rankings is Bama #1, FSU #2, and UO #3. If the Noles win out, there's no way they would have been left out of the natty in the old system.
Wow, was I wrong! OSU has been very impressive today. I don't envy the committee their job. A couple schools' fanbases are going to be very upset tomorrow. If I had to guess, I'd wager that they shaft both big 12 teams.
