Several times when I've unknowingly bit into a sandwich with either mayo and mustard on it, I immediately puked. They're not good for you nutritionally and are generally cheap crap, but I've an over the top/phobic level of distain for those two

I'm addicted to my morning cappuccino, endorphins & mountains, but I'm a full on Bball junkie

I posted earlier this night but deleted it, because I hate being "that" guy. I'm the antithesis of a tightass that gets hungup on semantics, but I've really developed a problem with the overusage of "addiction" over the years.

You're not "addicted" to basketball, music, video games, or salad. Those are interests, pleasures, and maybe even obsessions, but they're not addictions. The word "addiction" is a word that has very negative connotations, whereas the things listed in this thread are largely the things that can save people from real life addictions.

NOVoodoo I think we all realize the term is being used loosely. I am a tech writer by profession so I know about precise terminology. I also know the difference between formal writing and chats.

I went through withdrawal when I quit cigarettes. Actual physical withdrawal. I would be uncomfortable without my chewing gum but would not have physical withdrawal. I do know the difference.
