Vodka first, son. Vodka first. I drink wine because I get a ton for free/cheap. But vodka is my true love.
The London description was fairly accurate. "Let’s be honest, you probably look pretty good in a Burberry trench coat. You’re the type of person who loves city life, but without all the hype. Your ideal day consists of the Tate Modern, a pleasant evening at a nice restaurant, and a hot cup of tea before bed." That does sound like an ideal day. :MARIS61:
Hell yes! Had an industry hook-up tell me about it a while back. As soon as he was able to get it in stock, he had several bottles on hold for me. Best part of working in the alcohol industry is it's always desired, so I can always find friends/acquaintances to make trades.
The accountant in me likes to make sure I have Ketel One around at all times. Great vodka, great price. Belvedere Intense is solid. I'm a big Chopin fan. Grey Goose is solid. But Ketel One is the one I always have on hand. When I am putting together an online order, or I have someone able to buy for me and bring into their store, I like to try some more obscure brands. If you haven't already, try Karlsson's Gold Vodka (made in NY). Very nice vodka, maybe $30-35/bottle. I found it after a wine magazine named it their best vodka (it was maybe Wine Enthusiast or Wine & Spirits??). Grand Teton Potato Vodka is also nice, and pretty inexpensive (I think I picked it up for like $18/bottle). EDIT: I found the article that led me to Karlsson's. I didn't realize Grand Teton Potato Vodka also made it (so did Ketel One): http://www.winemag.com/October-2013/Octobers-11-Best-Vodkas/
It took me a long time to understand/taste the nuances of certain vodkas blended for certain drinks/cocktails. Depending on the drink, Grey Goose is quite nice. When I'm drinking on the rocks in a bucket, it's almost always Ketel One. I'll sip Karlsson's too. Or Belvedere Intense.
