The trade for Simmons is in the works. It's gonna happen, there just aren't any other options for Morey and Olshey. The rest of the league is refusing to help either one of them, so at some point they need to just shoot the shot already. The boatload of shooters and wings makes sense if we are going to trade my upper limit trade of CJ +Little + Ant + Picks for Simmons.
Im not sure that trade will be good enough for the Anti NO'ers? They'll be something wrong with it, thats for damn sure.
Cheap shot. Roughly half the posters here have already indicated they would prefer Siakam to Simmons, and his acquisition cost may well be less. It isn't like they will be changing their position on the issue just to have an excuse to complain!
No it's not in the works. Philly want to see us fail so we are forced to trade Dame. They aren't about to help us.
Better be something good. This is just more of the same Neil. The same shit he does every season. Go after former 1st rnd picks and hope it works.
Don't forget Mudiay, Beasley, and Faried PG: Dame/Simons/Mudiay SG: CJ/McLemore/Elleby SF: Powell/Little/DJJ/Brown PF: Covington/Faried/Beasley C: Nurkic/Zeller I give you your 2021-22 Trail Blazers
seeing what this team can do with chauncey billups is intriguing, but skepticism about cj mccollum is simply present, its been years of something thats clearly not working and hopefully neil olshey thinks the same, so he should shake up the roster, go all-in amd see how it plays out... cj mccollum for ben simmons is just a wishful thinking from out part, phila fans dont like that trade and neither would we if the roles were reversed and ben simmons is better player than cj mccollum by some margin and the only way this trade happens is if daryl morey & simmons want the trade at any cost! siakam trade sound more realisitic than simmons trade, but even siakam has more value than cj mccollum and im not sure they need cj mccollum as i dont think raps will compete next season, so it would probably be a three team trade and the most realistic scenario is cj mccollum for tobias harris, which probably isnt upgrade in terms of quality, but it would balance the roster a lot, wed finally get a legit wing with size and powell would move to his natural position... id be good with either of these trades, but id prefer siakam, then simmons and then harris
That is a bitter and fucked up way to do business and there is no chance if they are stonewalling Neil now that they'll be the team out of all the teams in the league that gets Dame. CJ fits that roster so well and if we just give them CJ and our entire draft arsenal picks and swaps, with the assurance that they will not get Dame in a trade from us regardless. I just think it makes too much sense for Morey and he won't be playing childish games just to ruin us when it won't benefit him.
Obviously it's just not the way a GM can conduct business. Every other GM in the league would think he was being a prick and would put the screws to him in the future... because it would cost Neil his job and wouldn't net Morey Dame. Teams will wait to see if Dame will demand a trade when he gets back but I don't think he will right away especially if Neil tells him that teams think they're waiting for him to be available. I think Dame could easily send a message through his agent to the league that he's not playing for teams that are trying to force him out and it could open up things. Morey is probably waiting to see and if he hears that Dame has demanded a trade he'll try for him and if he hears Dame is giving it a shot here... then the CJ trade will get made. Morey isn't trying anything nefarious, he's probably just got Neil in a holding pattern as due diligence. Dame getting back and saying some shit to the media like, "Everything's normal and I'm just getting ready for the season and trying to win a championship here." Will break the gridlock and we'll see both Simmons and Siakam moved... hopefully Simmons here and if not hopefully we get Siakam. Regardless of if it gets us what we need it will break the gridlock because Simmons for sure isn't starting the season with that team... not with Embiid and Doc.
Or maybe Neil knows his time here is coming to an end and will trade Dame to another team, then become that teams New GM when Portland gives him the boot. #backroomdeals
